Apply for the 2008-09 Koch Associate Program

The 2008-09 Koch Associate Program is a year-long, paid program designed to develop promising leaders and entrepreneurs interested in liberty and the non-profit arena.  Associates range in experience level from recent graduates to those with up to a decade of work experience, and come from diverse fields and academic majors.

Nursing project educates campus on AED device

As part of a nursing research project on campus, students are educating the university community about the automated external defibrillator (AED), a computerized medical device that checks a person’s heart rhythm and recognizes a rhythm that requires a shock. It also gives the rescuer the steps that need to be taken to save a life. The device should be used any time a person collapses and is not moving or breathing and has no heartbeat.

George Fox has one AED. It is located in the trainers’ room and can be accessed by any trainer.

Bruins host Lewis & Clark in tournament semifinals Feb. 27

George Fox will host Lewis & Clark College in the semifinal game of the Northwest Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the Wheeler Sports Center/Miller Gym. The winner will advance to the title game at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash., on Friday, Feb. 29, also at 7 p.m.

Ticket prices for all tournament games, as established by the league office, are $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under and seniors 65 and older. Students from the participating schools will be admitted free with their student ID card. Northwest Conference passes are also valid for tournament games. Faculty and staff from the schools are required to have tickets.

Do you have questions about the upcoming housing selection process?

Stop by the Housing Information table in the SUB on Monday, February 25 and Wednesday, February 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Housing Director Tim Goodfellow and Megan Marsh will be available to answer any questions you may have about housing for next year.

The 2008-2009 Housing Selection Process will take place on Bruindata March 17-21. 

All students will receive a housing code found on Bruindata.  Students who want to live together will designate one person from their group to fill out a housing form on Bruindata by entering in everyone’s housing code.  Your group will also rank all of the living areas that your group could possibly live in INCLUDING RESIDENCE HALLS.  

Groups with the highester average number of credits will placed into housing first.

Please note that you must register for classes.  Students who have not registered by Sunday, March 23 will contribute zero credits their group’s average.

Students who are eligible and plan to live off-campus will be able to select “Off-campus” on the their housing form.

Planning to commute from home in next year?

All students planning to commute from their parent’s home for the 2008-2009 academic year must complete an Application to Commute from Parent’s home.   Even if you are currently a commuter, you must submit a new form for next year.

Forms can be found in the Student Life Office or online at: http://www.georgefox.edu/offices/student_life/CommuteParents.pdf.

Forms are to be returned to the Student Life Office.

Please be aware that the maximum distance to commute from home is 60 miles.

Capstone class offers ‘Deal of the Week’
