The George Fox community is invited to the opening reception for a Willamette University art faculty exhibit in the Minthorne Gallery on Tuesday, Sept. 2. The event, featuring the art work of five Willamette faculty members, begins with an artist talk (in Hoover 102) at 4 p.m., followed by a reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The University Store is again offering a textbook price-matching program. Here are the guidelines:

• The program runs during the first week of fall and spring semesters only.
• The online price must include any applicable shipping cost.
• Books must be in stock and state they are available for shipment.
• ISBNs must match (the store can only do a best price on identical items).
• Pricing can only be compared new to new and used to used.
• Used book prices cannot be compared with new book prices.
• The store can only match pricing with online stores, not clubs like Books-a-Million or auction sites like eBay or half.com.
• Only valid with United States-based online stores

How to get prices matched:

Option 1: Purchase your books from the University Store, then do your research. Print out the website page which includes the book information (including ISBN), price and shipping. Bring the printout and your receipt to the annex; we will verify the information, then refund the difference. If you paid with a credit card, we will need that card in order to refund the money.

Option 2: Research the books online, then come purchase them from the University Store. Print out the website page, which includes the book information (including ISBN), price and shipping. We will verify the information and adjust the sale price of the book at the cash register.

The University Store is hosting a back-to-school sale. Save 10 percent on all school and art supplies (excludes computer product) through Friday, Sept. 12. Check out the store’s new shipment of select $19.99 sweatshirts and $9.99 T-shirts while supplies last. Store hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Security Office will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30. Come in for free bike registration and other parking registration assistance.

All Newberg students and new staff/faculty need to register your vehicle(s) on Bruindata BEFORE coming to campus. We will do our best to have your parking permits ready for you to pick up at Mail Services next week.

University Mail Services will be open from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 30 for package pick-up.
There will be no letter delivery that day. Package pick-up only.

Plant Services will be checking window screens in all residence halls, including La Shana, Carey, Willcuts and Beebe. These checks will be conducted Tuesday, August 26th through Thursday, August 28th

Please notice that the location for placing your parking permit has changed.  Permits should now be placed on the lower left-hand corner of the rear window exterior (driver’s side).

There will be a $5.00 replacement fee if they are incorrectly placed. 

Security has collected a large amount of lost and found items over the summer and needs to make room for incoming lost and found items this fall. If you lost something this summer, please come to the security office before Monday, Sept. 1, to retrieve your lost items. After that date, all unclaimed items will be donated to charitable organizations.

Driver needed to take a friend of an early arriving student to Portland International Airport at 8:00 a.m. Monday, August 25 for a 10:30 a.m. flight.   Driver will be reimbursed for gas.

Plant Services will be in training for PeopleSoft this Thursday and Friday, Aug. 21-22. The office will be open but will be operating with limited staff. We will try to answer phones and check e-mail.

The IT Service Desk will have a student employee in the Murdock Learning Resource Center each weekday, Monday through Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and during library hours on Saturday and Sunday. The IT Service Desk in the Stevens Center will be closing at 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The policy for requesting equipment or technical help has not changed. The room formerly known as the CAI lab (Stevens Center) will now be a classroom. The Murdock Learning Resource Center (Newberg library) will have an “info commons” outfitted with new furniture and six iMac computers that will be an alternate place students can use for online research and printing. Other computer lab areas are the same as in past years.

FoxTALE will be unavailable from 6:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, for server maintenance and preparation for the fall semester. Please note that your online course(s) will be unavailable during this time.

Attention New Students:  If you are in the area, you may stop by University Mail Services in the North Street Annex and pick up your campus mailbox key. 

All students – commuters and residents – have a campus mailbox.  Get your key now and pick up any packages or mail that may be here for you.

Attention Returning Students:  Don’t forget to bring your campus mailbox key with you when you return to campus. You can get mail and packages now.

The university’s paving contractor, Signature Paving Services, will be installing the speed table on Fulton Street across from the Friendsview Retirement Community the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 12.

This section of Fulton will be closed for the duration of the day to allow for the asphalt to cure and for installation of the pavement markings and signs.

Security Services would like to correct the previous E-nnouncement on how to pick up your parking permits.  

If you have registered your vehicle on Bruindata, and a permit has been assigned to you, you will receive a Package Notice email from Mail Services. When you arrive on campus, bring photo ID to Mail Services to pick up your permit.

Please note:  The location where your permit should be affixed has changed. Peel off the backing and affix it to the EXTERIOR REAR window of your vehicle in the lower left-hand corner on the driver’s side.
