Reminder: Change in parking permit placement

Please notice that the location for placing your parking permit has changed.  Permits should now be placed on the lower left-hand corner of the rear window exterior (driver’s side).

There will be a $5.00 replacement fee if they are incorrectly placed. 

Check lost and found at security office before Sept. 1

Security has collected a large amount of lost and found items over the summer and needs to make room for incoming lost and found items this fall. If you lost something this summer, please come to the security office before Monday, Sept. 1, to retrieve your lost items. After that date, all unclaimed items will be donated to charitable organizations.

Online confirmation for returning undergraduate students will be live starting at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, August 25.  Please login to Bruindata to view your holds or confirm.  If you need to confirm in-person, please do so on Saturday, August 30, during the assigned times:

Remember that you must confirm your enrollment either online or in-person by noon on August 30 or you will be charged a late confirmation fee of $50.

Airport driver needed August 25

Driver needed to take a friend of an early arriving student to Portland International Airport at 8:00 a.m. Monday, August 25 for a 10:30 a.m. flight.   Driver will be reimbursed for gas.

IT announces service hours

The IT Service Desk will have a student employee in the Murdock Learning Resource Center each weekday, Monday through Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and during library hours on Saturday and Sunday. The IT Service Desk in the Stevens Center will be closing at 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The policy for requesting equipment or technical help has not changed. With CAI lab’s closure, MLRC offers ‘info commons’

The room formerly known as the CAI lab (Stevens Center) will now be a classroom. The Murdock Learning Resource Center (Newberg library) will have an “info commons” outfitted with new furniture and six iMac computers that will be an alternate place students can use for online research and printing. Other computer lab areas are the same as in past years.

Campus Mailbox Keys

Attention New Students:  If you are in the area, you may stop by University Mail Services in the North Street Annex and pick up your campus mailbox key. 

All students – commuters and residents – have a campus mailbox.  Get your key now and pick up any packages or mail that may be here for you.

Attention Returning Students:  Don’t forget to bring your campus mailbox key with you when you return to campus. You can get mail and packages now.

Paving work scheduled on Fulton Street Tuesday

The university’s paving contractor, Signature Paving Services, will be installing the speed table on Fulton Street across from the Friendsview Retirement Community the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 12.

This section of Fulton will be closed for the duration of the day to allow for the asphalt to cure and for installation of the pavement markings and signs.

Updated Information on Parking Permits

Security Services would like to correct the previous E-nnouncement on how to pick up your parking permits.  

If you have registered your vehicle on Bruindata, and a permit has been assigned to you, you will receive a Package Notice email from Mail Services. When you arrive on campus, bring photo ID to Mail Services to pick up your permit.

Please note:  The location where your permit should be affixed has changed. Peel off the backing and affix it to the EXTERIOR REAR window of your vehicle in the lower left-hand corner on the driver’s side.

Student New Parking Permits – Exterior Back Windows

Students who have registered their vehicle for the new school year will be receiving their permit in their campus mailbox.

When you pick up your permits in the mailroom, please read the enclosed instructions carefully.

Before affixing your permit to your vehicle please note that the location of the permit has changed.

This year parking permits will be placed on the BACK, EXTERIOR window of your car in the LOWER LEFT HAND CORNER OF THE DRIVERS SIDE.

Information about your permit is included with each permit.

Bruin Den closed for maintenance Aug. 4-15

As in past summers, the Bruin Den will be closed over the next two weeks, Aug. 4-15. This will allow Plant Services the opportunity to replace the kitchen floor and do preventative maintenance on equipment prior to the start of classes. It will reopen on Aug. 18.

Juan Young Scholarship Deadline – July 31

The Juan Young Scholarship application is available to students on the Student Financial Services home webpage (also on the scholarship page). 

First peference is given to lineal descendants of former Kienow’s employees.  Applicants must be an Oregon resident and under 21 years old on April 25, 2008. 

A 500 word essay is required.  Application must be received by Student Financial Services by 5:00 p.m. on July 31 (no exceptions).
