Year-end inventory at the University Store on the Newberg campus is scheduled Wednesday through Tuesday, June 24-30. The bookstore, textbook annex and online store will be completely shut down for any type of sale or request. All bookstore employees will be unavailable for assistance.
During this time:
- There will be no money available to make change.
- Phone orders or requests will not be taken.
- Candy, beverages or other items will not be sold, along with any other type of merchandise.
The bookstore will resume full operation on Wednesday, July 1, but will be closed on Friday, July 3. Please plan ahead for merchandise needed before this time.
The bookstore staff wishes to thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation. We are aware this closure can be an inconvenience to some, but having an accurate inventory count is just one more way we strive to improve our service to the university community.

Mark Terry (Visual Arts) is seeking to borrow unused foam camping pads, eggshell mattress pads, cushions and other soft items to help pack his sculptures for a show in California. Join the Undergraduate Teacher Education Department by donating a few hours of your time on Tuesday, June 23 to serve Sherwood Schools! The district is opening two new school next fall and need a GFU crew of students to help unpack all the new furniture and equipment. The serve project begins at 9:00 a.m.; any hours you can donate that day would be greatly appreciated.Â

The 09-10 application for the Juan Young Trust Scholarship is posted on the Student Financial Services website:

Juan Young is a former president of Kienow’s Food Stores. This trust was set up to first help Kienow’s employees descendants with college expenses, therefore first priority must be given to them.Â
If no applicants meet this criteria, the scholarship will be open to other candidates who fit the following qualifications:Â
Oregon resident and under 21 years old on April 24, 2009
Four recipients will be chosen and the scholarship amount is $3,000 each. Deadline is June 30, 2009.

Just a reminder that the Bruin Den is open every day from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. throughout the summer and will feature exhibition specials every Tuesday and Thursday for lunch.
Remember, too, that if you come to our office and buy $50 of Bruin Bucks we offer a 10 percent discount on all your purchases. This offer is available to everyone with a valid university ID card and can be used throughout the year anytime we’re open at either the Bruin Den or Villa Cafe.

Due to the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 25, the courier schedule will be changed for next week only. He will go to the Portland Center every day Tuesday through Friday and will go to Salem on Tuesday and Thursday only, May 26 and 28.
Cut-off times remain the same. Items must be in Newberg Mail Services by 9:45 a.m. for delivery to Portland and Salem campuses.
Normal schedule will resume the following week.

Mail Services is an unofficial drop site for all Oregon county ballots. Arrangements have been made with the Yamhill County elections office for us to offer this service. We accept any Oregon county ballot, and there is no postage necessary. The deadline for this drop-off site is 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 19. All out-of-state ballots must be mailed.

George Fox (33-9) will open the NCAA Division III Baseball National Championship Tournament against Cal Lutheran in the first round of the West Regional at Linfield College. The game, originally scheduled for Wednesday, was rescheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 14, because of persistent rain Wednesday.
The Bruins are the No. 4 seed in the regional, while the Kingsmen (31-9) are the No. 3 seed in the six-team field. The regional champion will advance to the eight-team NCAA Division III World Series, scheduled for Friday through Tuesday, May 22-26, at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wis.
The Bruins earned the Northwest Conference’s automatic berth in the national tournament with a convincing 24-6 one-game playoff victory over co-NWC champion Pacific Lutheran on May 9.

The hanging baskets workshop originally scheduled for Thursday, May 14, has been rescheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, in the Plant Services Building at 1101 Villa Road.
The four-hour session will instruct you on how to make the gorgeous hanging baskets that grace our George Fox quad area. You will learn how these beauties are assembled and help Plant Services in the process. Feel free to join in the class at any time.
