The Northwest Conference Fall Classics for the men’s and women’s golf teams, which count as one quarter of the score for the overall 2010-11 NWC golf championships, will be held this Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 23-24. The men will be at Juniper Country Club in Redmond, Ore., the women at the Lost Racks Golf Course in Bend, Ore. The Bruin women are the defending NWC Fall Classic champions.

Flu shot appointments still available for Thursday

As a reminder, the flu shot clinic is Thursday, Oct. 21, in Health and Counseling Services. There are limited morning appointments, but many afternoon appointments are still available.

The cost is $15, or just $1.50 for students with insurance. It is free for employees with Regence. Call ext. 2340 to schedule an appointment.

‘World’s Got Talent’ auditions set for Nov. 2

Do you have a cultural talent you want to share with Fox? Come audition for this year’s “World’s Got Talent.” We are looking for all sorts of performances, including dance, singing, acting, etc.

Corn Maze, Pumpkin Patch, and Pizza Party

The GFU International Club will be going to Baggenstos Pumpkin Patch this Saturday at 10 a.m. We will meet in Le Shana parking lot at 9:45 and take vans to the pumpkin patch and corn maze, we will then come back to GFU and carve pumpkins and eat pizza for lunch. The cost is $8.00 for everything! Come enjoy the fall weather and festivities!

The Newberg Police Department and the Newberg Kiwanis Club are sponsoring an Internet Safety Seminar from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, in Hoover 105. Rutgers professor speaks on Quakers Thursday in Hoover 105

This is a reminder that the university will host Rutgers professor Andrew Murphy for a public lecture, “Persecuting Quakers? The Politics of Conscience in Early Pennsylvania,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, in Hoover 105.

Security announces parking policy change

As of Monday, Oct. 18, the following change to parking policy will be in effect: The Le Shana parking lot and Fulton on-street parking near the ball fields will be open to all students (resident east, commuters and resident west) from the hours of 2 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

All other parking policies will still be enforced, which includes unregistered vehicles (if a guest gets ticketed, have them call security), parking in handicap spaces, fire lanes, parking in two spaces, etc.

MLA basics covered in Wednesday workshop

Reconstruction in Afghanistan discussed in forum Monday

Zaher Wahab, professor of education at Lewis and Clark University, will speak about his experiences in Afghanistan at the next Liberal Arts and Critical Issues Forum, scheduled this Monday, Oct. 18, in Hoover 105. Wahab, a senior advisor to the Ministry of Education in Afghanistan, will speak from 4:40 to 5:40 p.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m.
