Director of African orphanage speaks tonight

Monday, September 10th, 2012

Don’t forget tonight’s presentation by Lutaaya Abul, director of African Hearts Orphanage in Kampala, Uganda, at 7 p.m. in EHS 102.

Lutaaya  grew up in the gutters of Kampala, started to attend a church, became involved in music, and started the African Hearts Orphanage. The organization’s target population is children who are living on the street, many of whom have been orphaned by HIV or abandoned or victimized by family violence. Our Juniors Abroad groups visit the orphanage when we travel to East Africa.

The organization currently runs two homes housing former street children in Kampala and Ssenge. Children living in these homes are taught the Bible and are provided with shelter, food, love and education.

Parking Reminders

Monday, September 10th, 2012

Students:

Many of you have been ticketed for not having your permit on your vehicle, despite registering your vehicle. Your permit will NOT be delivered to your campus PO box; instead, you need to sign for it at Mail Services.

Also, if you commute to school and your chosen lot is full, there are FOUR commuter lots on campus: the Bauman lot, the Le Shana lot at the corner of Villa and Fulton streets, and two lots at the Villa Academic Complex. Those are the four lots for commuters, and no on-street parking is allowed for commuters.

Also, in Oregon, any curb painted yellow denotes a fire lane. There is no parking allowed at any time by a yellow curb or outside of the lined spots in the parking lots, as this puts your vehicle into the fire lane that emergency vehicles must have. Please save yourself some money and review the parking brochure that came with your permit!

If your questions aren’t answered by the brochure, or by the Parking FAQ on the Security Services webpages, then please stop by the security office or e-mail Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu to get your parking questions answered.
