Show your support by designing, drawing and coloring a T-shirt that expresses your Bruin Pride. Then, on Thursday, Oct. 18, come by our table in the Bruin Den between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to vote on your favorite design.

Film ‘Welcome to Shelbyville’ shown at next ‘Islam and the West’ event

The campus community is invited to the next installment of the “Islam and the West” Liberal Arts and Critical Issues series this Monday, Oct. 15, in Hoover 105.

The session runs from 7 to 8 p.m. and features a showing of the film Welcome to Shelbyville, which tells the story of racial interaction between whites, African Americans, Hispanics and Somalian Muslims in the small town of Shelbyville, Tenn.

The same session is presented from 4:40 to 5:40 p.m.; however, it is recommended that the general public attend the evening session, if possible.

‘Seminary Fair Plus’ scheduled for Oct. 23 on Newberg campus

All are invited to “Seminary Fair Plus” on the Newberg campus on Tuesday, Oct. 23, in the atrium of the Hoover Academic Building. The event is designed for those interested in pursuing religious or professional higher education.

The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Representatives from a variety of seminaries as well as George Fox graduate programs will be available to connect with prospective students who desire to be equipped for ministry or professional education.

Donut fundraiser in Bruin Den supports ‘Race to 2025’

A team of four students (Mary Owen, Kyle Webster, Bethany Widdicombe,and Nick Largusa) are raising funds for and participating in the “Race to 2025” held this weekend in Montana. To help raise funds for the trip, Nick will be making fresh donuts in the Bruin Den today (Thursday) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The donuts are free with donation.

More than 200 million people from 2,200 different language groups still do not have God’s Word in their language. “Race To 2025” is an adventure race fundraiser held by Wycliffe Bible Translators that has the goals of creating awareness for the need in Bible translating, raising up a new generation of Bible translating missionaries, and raising funds for the Bible translating currently happening in Cameroon, Africa.

Any and all donations raised on campus will go straight to the Wycliffe Cameroon project. Contact Nick (nlargusa@gmail.com) if you have questions.

Have you started to think about winter break? How about a week of adventure and serving others? This year there are three Winter Serve opportunities: Portland, Seattle and Twin Rocks.

Winter serve applications now available online. Go to the ASC web page and look under “Get Involved.”

Applying is easy: Download the application. Fill it out. Save it as “YourName.docx” and e-mail it to Kaylena Charpertier at kcharpentier10@georgefox.edu. Then click the “Reference Form” link and send that link to one professor and one student to fill out on your behalf. Applications are due by Friday, Oct. 19!

Digitized ‘Crescents’ available online

Through a digitization project of the George Fox University/Northwest Yearly Meeting archives, The Crescent, George Fox University’s student newspaper, is now available online from 1891 to 1931. Papers can be accessed at this link.

Digitization efforts are ongoing and will result in additional issues being made available online. For further information, contact Zoie Clark, archivist, at ext. 2415, or Rob Bohall, reference librarian, at ext. 2416. The GFU/NWYM Archives is located in the Murdock Learning Resource Center.
