International Club raising money for victims of Typhoon Haiyan

Monday, November 25th, 2013

Recently a disastrous typhoon, Haiyan, hit the Philippines, causing at least 5,000 deaths, thousands of homes destroyed, and leaving tens of thousands homeless. As the children of God, we would like to raise awareness of this unfortunate event and offer up prayers for the people of this country.

In addition, the International Club would like to invite you to our fundraiser for the Philippines. We will be at the Bruin Den from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 2, selling bubble tea and homemade strudels.

Also, on Wednesday, Dec. 4, we’re selling artworks and Chinese calligraphy donated by our very own George Fox students. All proceeds and donations will be going to the Red Cross in the Philippines.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have further questions, at gfu.international.club@gmail.com.

International Club Chinese Lab

Sunday, November 24th, 2013

The international club is having the final Chinese Lab this semester. We strongly encourage you to join us because we are going to discuss the Biblical relations of Chinese characters.

British theologian Lesslie Newbigin said, “If theologians talk about the world without mentioning India, Africa, China, Russia, South America, as well as our own people, without meaning this actual globe and the nations which people it, we are talking about unbiblical nonsense.”

Join us at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26 in Lemmons 2 with snacks, friendship, and fun.

If you have further questions, please contact us at gfu.international.club@gmail.com. We’d love to have you there.

Not riding your bike much? Consider taking it home

Friday, November 22nd, 2013

As you prepare to go home for Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks, please ponder for a moment if you are going to be using your bike much during the wintry weather ahead.

If the answer is no, then please take your bike home and then bring it back at Spring Break when the weather is much more amenable to bike riding. If you are going to keep it here during the winter, then please put it in your room during breaks to avoid it being a target of thieves. And please remember to always lock your bikes.

Any questions be sent to Nadine Kincaid at nkincaid@georgefox.edu.
