Chinese holiday traditions discussed at Wednesday’s ‘Table Talk’

Join us for a “Table Talk” lunchtime gathering in which George Fox staff, faculty and students dialogue about issues related to cultural diversity.

Everyone is welcome to come and discuss December’s topic on how different cultures celebrate the holidays. Guest speaker Lu Shen will be sharing about Chinese traditions for the holidays.

Come to the Cap and Gown Room on Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 12:30 p.m. to join in the discussion. Bring your lunch and a friend, too.

Clothing drive organized to help victims of typhoon

Proposals being accepted for Student Project Fund

The ASC Student Project Fund is open for proposals from now until Friday, Dec. 20. This fund is for sustainable, on-campus projects, which will serve as permanent additions to the campus, as so desired by the student body. Projects for consideration should include those which serve as permanent physical additions.

Examples of projects are the fire pit, electrical outlets in the Bruin Den and the Amphitheater.

Fox & Friends Christmas Celebration

Don’t forget to join us for a “Reflections on Advent” service in the Cap and Gown Room tonight (Monday) at 7 p.m. Students, this counts as a chapel elective!

Join us as the Worship Ensemble and guest speaker Jamie Johnson lead you thoughtfully through Advent themes in celebrating the birth of Jesus, the Christ. Music will range from modern renditions of old hymns to newly written songs about Christ and his Advent.

We will also be joined by George Fox artists from Gary Buhler’s art class who will give artistic impressions to the themes presented.

Management class teams with Bon Appetit to create special sandwiches

A featured sandwich will be offered each day during lunch hours in the Bruin Den for the first two weeks of December (Dec. 2-13). The Intro to Management class has partnered with Bon Appetit for the past month to design five unique sandwiches. Each sandwich represents a student group’s project, so stop by and enjoy the “Special Sandwich of the Day.”

Five different sandwiches will be featured, so be sure to try them all!

The library is closing early, at 5 p.m., today (Wednesday) for Thanksgiving. It will be closed through Sunday afternoon. The 24-hour study room will be open as usual over the break.

The library will reopen from 6 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1.

Clothing drive organized for victims of typhoon

The Bruin Heritage group is hosting a clothing drive for the victims of the typhoon in the Philippines. Thanksgiving break is a great time to clean out your closet and donate your old clothes to people in need!

Bruin Den, Villa Cafe close early Wednesday for Thanksgiving break

The Bruin Den and Villa Cafe will be closing after lunch at 1:30 p.m. this Wednesday, Nov. 27, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Both cafes will be reopening on Monday, Dec. 2, at their normal time.
