Tickets are now available for a Wednesday, Oct. 27, concert featuring musical guest Gungor in Bauman Auditorium. Tickets for the 8 p.m. concert can be purchased at the Bruin Bookstore for $10 (faculty and community). The event is free for George Fox students. Tickets will also be available at the door.
Gungor is a musical band born out of a journey of learning what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Their philosophy is that their music would serve as a means to an end, to change people, and be a part of God’s kingdom. According to Michael Gungor, the group’s music speaks to the spiritual journey that happens when we follow God in trusting him to “make beautiful things out of the dust in our lives, that God will somehow use us, use our obedience and love, our feeble human effort, and build himself a kingdom.â€
To listen to their music, visit gungormusic.com, or check out their latest song, “Beautiful Things” on YouTube.

Beginning this year, banners for the quad lampposts and for exterior buildings require an approval process. This process will help ensure banners are consistent with the university’s brand and visual identity system, and are regulation size (i.e., fit the lamppost brackets properly).
Requests to install banners need to be made through Event Services seven days prior to the install date. However, to ensure you will have approved banners in time for your event, please contact the Department of Marketing Communications earlier. If a new design is necessary, lead times will be at least six weeks for lamppost banners and four weeks for building banners.
For information about scheduling and banner size requirements, contact Lisa Leslie in Event Services. For information about visual standards, contact Tamara Cissna in Marketing Communications.

With the advent of October, we ask you to please nominate a colleague that you believe is deserving of this month’s award. Your nomination should include a concise but specific summary of the person’s recent contributions (past 30 days or so) – what was done, who was impacted, etc. – and any other information that you believe makes this person deserving of this award.
Please submit your nomination via e-mail to Peggy Kilburg by Oct. 22. The President’s Executive Leadership Team will then select the recipient from the nominations submitted. The winner will be announced at our community meeting on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 28, and will receive a $100 gift card to The Allison.

If a balance of more than one year of vacation accrual remains after December time sheets and time-off reports are processed (in January), the employee will lose the portion that exceeds one year’s accrual.
Available on the HR website are vacation accrual charts with instructions, one each for support staff and administrators. Please use this chart along with the information on your Sept. 30 pay statement to determine how many hours of vacation you need to use before Jan. 1, 2011. Your vacation balance on your Sept. 30th pay statement does not take into account any vacation you may have taken in September since those time sheets and time-off reports have not yet been received or processed in HR. Links to these charts can be found by clicking this link.
If you have any questions after you have reviewed your vacation balance and the chart that applies to your vacation accrual, please contact HR for assistance.
