John Bradley of Portland-based IDAK Group will speak at the Tuesday, April 26, Newberg breakfast for the Christian Chamber of Commerce of the Northwest. The breakfast is from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in the university’s Villa Academic Complex.
Bradley has specialized in screening new hires for more than 35 years. His client organizations include Fortune 500 companies, family-owned businessess, government-owned agencies, and church denominations and mission agencies. He is the president and founder of the IDAK Group in Portland (idakgroup.com).

Special guest performers, including internationally renowned opera star Richard Zeller, will join the university’s Symphonic Band and Concert Choir for the annual Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, in Bauman Auditorium.
Zeller, a 1983 George Fox graduate, is one of America’s foremost baritones and is known for his sonorous dramatic voice, a compelling stage presence and musicianship. His opera engagements have included 12 seasons at the Metropolitan Opera and dates at opera houses around the world.
Zeller is among the soloists in a performance of Mozart’s Requiem. Soloists will include Zeller (bass), voice faculty members Maggie Daane (soprano) and Cynthia McGladrey (alto), and Les Green (tenor) of Willamette University.
Also taking the Bauman Auditorium stage will be the university’s Symphonic Band, directed by Pat Vandehey, which will perform George Washington Bicentennial March, by John Philip Sousa; A New Birth of Freedom, (a narrative setting of Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Addressâ€) by Randol Alan Bass; and Give us This Day by David Maslanka.
The Concert Choir, conducted by Loren Wenz, will perform O Praise the Lord from the Heavens, by Pavel Chesnokov; O Magnum Mysterium, by Tomas Luis de Victoria; and Sanctus by James Pick, a senior composition major at George Fox.
Tickets cost $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and George Fox alumni, and $6 for students and children. Tickets can be reserved online at music.georgefox.edu, through the University Box Office by calling 503-554-3844, or may be purchased in Bauman Auditorium on the night of the concert.

Schedule change: Next weekend’s baseball series at Linfield in McMinnville has been adjusted. The Bruins and Wildcats will now play two games on Friday at 1 p.m. and a single on Saturday at noon; the single was originally scheduled for Friday and the twinbill on Saturday.

The final performances of the theatre department’s production of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew are scheduled Thursday through Sunday. Shows are scheduled Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. All performances take place in Wood-Mar Auditorium.
All George Fox employees receive one complimentary ticket. Students will be admitted free on Thursday. Your complimentary ticket is only available at the Box Office in the Bruin Bookstore. Additional tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for alumni and seniors, and $6 for students and children under 12.

At the Mr. Bruin Pageant this past Saturday, the ticket sales, bake sale and dash for cash raised $3,711.40 that will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation!

Don’t forget to join us for the annual Woolman Peacemaking Forum lecture, presented Wednesday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. in Hoover 105. Emmanuel Katongole, associate professor of theology and world Christianity at Duke Divinity School and co-director of the Duke Center for Reconciliation, will speak on “Justice and Peace: Hopes that are the Wrong Size for this World.”
The program also will feature Micah Bournes, a poet, rapper and writer who is one of the scriptwriters for The Voice of Justice, a short film that personifies justice and injustice.
Katongole also will speak in chapel in Bauman Auditorium Wednesday morning. The topic of his presentation will be “From Mulabe to Newberg: Lessons Along the Way.†A brown-bag lunch with Katongole will follow in the Cap and Gown Room.
Finally, a Peace and Justice Symposium is scheduled for Thursday, April 14, in the Quaker Heritage Room on the second floor of the MLRC. Refreshments will be served at 7:15 p.m., and the program will begin at 7:30 p.m. with presenters Colin Saxton, superintendent of the Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends, and Laura Goble, director of the Moreau Center for Service and Leadership.
