Makeup dates for the George Fox men’s and women’s basketball games that were canceled over the weekend were set this week. On Tuesday, Feb. 11, the teams will visit Pacific in Forest Grove, and on Tuesday, Feb. 18, the Bruins will host Lewis & Clark College. The women will tip off at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m. both nights.
The Bruins and Pacific were postponed from Friday and originally rescheduled for Feb. 18. With the additional postponements of Saturday’s Lewis & Clark games, it became necessary to accommodate all of the area teams involved in makeup games.
George Fox also announced that a number of special events originally planned around the Lewis & Clark games on Saturday will now take place on the Feb.18 makeup date. They include a celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day; recognition of all senior women student-athletes, student trainers, dancers and cheerleaders; the honoring of the 2013 NWC women’s championship teams in golf and track and field; and observance of the “Pink Zone†program for the promotion of breast cancer awareness and cancer research.

All are invited to the third installment of the spring Liberal Arts and Critical Issues lecture series this Monday, Feb. 10, when Julia Stronks, the Edward B. Stronks will present “Christians and Same-Sex Marriage: Framing the Questions Before Shouting Out the Answers.” Fifteen states now legalize same-sex marriage. Should Christians be concerned about this or should they think about this as civil rights for the LGBTQ community? Stronks says your answer to this question depends only partly on how you view homosexuality.
The same session is presented from 4:40 to 5:40 p.m.; however, it is recommended that the general public attend the evening session, if possible.
