On Friday, April 4, George Fox will host the Oregon Symphony in its 27th appearance in Newberg at 8 p.m. in Bauman Auditorium. The concert is free to George Fox employees – a gift from George Fox board member Ken Austin, who cofounded A-dec with his late wife Joan.
The university has been provided with a limited number of tickets for its employees. These tickets are separate from those to be issued by the Newberg Area Chamber of Commerce to the general public.
George Fox employees (halftime and over) may pick up their tickets – limit two per employee – on a first-come, first-served basis starting tomorrow (Tuesday, March 18) at 9 a.m. at the Box Office in Pennington House. Phone reservations (503-554-3844) will not be taken except for employees at the Portland and Salem centers.
On Monday, March 31, beginning at 9 a.m., any remaining tickets (again, a limit of two per person) will be available – also on a first-come, first-served basis – to those who sign up on a waiting list. If you find you will not be able to attend the concert, please return your tickets for another employee to use.
Questions? Contact Mary Monahan at mmonahan@georgefox.edu.

A new option has just been approved that will allow current and entering students to meet part of the general education humanities requirement.
In place of a fine arts course, a student may satisfy the fine arts general education requirement through participation in a music ensemble. To meet the requirement, a student must earn at least 3 credits total across six different semesters (i.e. students participating in more than one ensemble cannot “double count†one semester as two for the purposes of this requirement).
A student may participate in different ensembles in different semesters. During or shortly after completion of the sixth semester, the student must arrange with the Music Department office to complete a milestone assignment in order to finish the requirement. Eligible ensembles are: Men’s or Women’s Chorale, Concert Choir, Symphonic Band, and Chehalem Symphony Orchestra. Please note that due to NASM accreditation rules, music majors are not eligible for this general education substitution.
Any current student (except those graduating this May) able to complete six semesters of ensemble participation before graduation can take advantage of this new option.
Questions? Please email Debbie Hawblitzel at dhawblit@georgefox.edu.

When does life begin? What is the meaning of life? How can we stand up for our beliefs while demonstrating kindness and respect? These questions challenge our society and our faith every day.
If you are searching for answers or want to know more about advocating for life, we encourage you to attend a special chapel event tonight (Monday), when the university’s Students for Life group will host a chapel from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Cap and Gown Room. We have been blessed with the opportunity to hear from guest speaker Rebekah Barnes, who will share her knowledge on the biblical approach to life, as well as provide apologetics training on the topic of life. Elective chapel credit is available.
