The Center for Peace and Justice presents Promised Land, an indigenous film, tonight (Tuesday) from 6 to 9 p.m. in Hoover 105. This film screening counts toward faculty development hours this semester.
Chinook Tribal Chairman, Tony Johnson, and the producers, Vasant and Sarah Salcedo, will be present for a Q&A following the film. Admission is free, and the public is welcome.
Promised Land is an award-winning social justice documentary that follows two tribes in the Pacific Northwest, the Duwamish and the Chinook, as they fight for the restoration of treaty rights they have long been denied. In following their story, the film examines a larger problem in the way that the government and society still look at tribal sovereignty.
Students and faculty are welcome to come early, from 3 to 4 p.m., to meet Chinook Tribal Chairman Tony Johnson in Hoover 211 or the film producers, Vasant and Sarah Salcedo, in Hoover 250.
Questions? Contact Tricia Hornback at thornback@georgefox.edu or Laurie Fair at Lfair@georgefox.edu.

The Office for Spiritual Life would like to express apologies for any inconvenience caused to the employee community for the cancellation of the 10 a.m. Ash Wednesday service on March 6.

Thank you for your grace and understanding.Â
