Candidates needed for research study on knee pain

Wednesday, April 24th, 2024

Do you suffer from knee pain and are over the age of 50? You may very well be an ideal candidate for a research study being conducted by Rebecca Dobler, a faculty member in the university’s Department of Physical Therapy.

The purpose of the study is to determine the influences of peak effort in participants with knee pain and/or knee osteoarthritis during a one-minute sit-to-stand test, and new approaches in knee pain education. The research is being done in conjunction with A.T. Still University to fulfill dissertation requirements of the principal investigator.

We are seeking participants who are over 50 with either self-declared knee pain or documented knee OA from a provider. An initial phone screening will be completed to determine your eligibility. The study will be conducted at the Medical Sciences Building at 448 Werth Blvd., in Newberg.

Here are today’s ‘Bite-Sized Wellness’ ideas

Monday, April 22nd, 2024

Time for some more bite-sized wellness ideas from the Wellness Committee! There are only four this week, but they are solid.

  • Social media detox: Give yourself the freedom and peace of staying off of social media for a few days. Check out the benefits here.
  • Practice gratitude: Focus on the areas of your life where you feel much gratitude. This could be people, your home, your health, your faith. See how it works here.
  • Pay someone a compliment: This may seem like a wellness tip for others, but don’t they always say it is better to give than to receive? Try it out.
  • Practice forgiveness: This can be a tough one, but think of someone whom you can genuinely forgive. Christ forgave us and asked us to forgive. Ephesians 4:32 says, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Check out this article from Harvard University on the power of forgiveness.

You are worth it!
