All invited to second annual Voices Conference Oct. 20-21

The Intercultural Resource Center is hosting the second annual Voices Conference at George Fox Oct. 20-21!

This Multicultural Leadership conference is an open to people from all backgrounds and cultures. Our vision is to make students, faculty, staff and our neighbors aware of the community’s need for diversity among our leaders. It is this very vision that led Leroy and Donna Barber to begin the Voices Project, and along with George Fox employees Jenny Elsey and Bryce Coefield, to make this conference a reality at George Fox.

We will be featuring keynote speaker Leroy Barber, who will also lead workshops and discussions regarding social justice, leadership and diversity.

The schedule for the event will be as follows:

Friday, Oct. 20 (at Chehalem Cultural Center, 415 E. Sheridan St.)

  • 5:15 p.m.: Registration
  • 5:30 p.m.: Doors Open
  • 6-9 p.m.:  Opening Spoken Word Poetry and Worship Session with Urban Doxology

Saturday, Oct. 21

  • 9 a.m.: Continental Breakfast & Registration (Hoover lobby)
  • 10 a.m.: Keynote (Hoover 105)
  • 11:15 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.: Breakout Sessions 1 & 2 (Hoover 102-103)
  • 12:30-1:30 p.m.: Lunch (not provided)
  • 1:45-3 p.m.: Breakout Sessions 3 & 4 (Hoover 102-103)
  • 3:15-4 p.m.: Closing Session (Hoover 105)

George Fox students: There is chapel credit offered for attending this event; the amount will vary based upon participation in both Friday and Saturday’s activities (Friday worship: 2 credits; Saturday workshops: 1 credit per session, up to 4 credits total).
