University of Washington political scientist speaks on campus Friday
Anthony Gill, a distinguished fellow at Baylor University’s Institute for Studies of Religion and host of the podcast “Research on Religion,†will speak at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, in Hoover 105.
Gill, a professor of political science at the University of Washington, specializes in political economy and religion and politics, with an emphasis on church-state relations, religious liberty and religious economies. He holds a PhD in political science from UCLA and was recipient of the University of Washington’s Distinguished Teaching Award in 1999.
George Fox’s College Republicans and the Charles G. Koch Foundation are cosponsoring Gill’s visit. He will speak on the topic “Why Christians should care about Liberty . . . and not just Religious Liberty.†Responses will be provided by professors Nate Peach and Tom Head.
Pizza and refreshments will be served at 5 p.m., and the talk will begin shortly thereafter.
Gill is the author of Rendering Unto Caesar: The Catholic Church and the State in Latin America and the award-winning The Political Origins of Religious Liberty.
