Be mindful and alert as you navigate campus this fall
As you navigate campus this season, let’s keep our shared paths safe, smooth and accessible for everyone. High-traffic choke points – like the busy plazas outside Canyon Commons, building entrances, and sidewalk intersections – require extra attention, especially during class transitions.
Please stay fully aware of your surroundings by saving texting or scrolling until you’ve reached your destination; taking your eyes off your surroundings for even a second makes it easy to miss an unexpected curb, slippery leaves, or a stray scooter.
For those traveling on wheels – whether skateboards, bicycles, or e-scooters – remember to yield to pedestrians, maintain control, and keep speeds slow. By staying alert, sharing the sidewalks, and watching out for common trip hazards, we can all help keep our campus safe and running smoothly.
Refresh your knowledge of Oregon scooter use laws and always charge your scooter outside of buildings (including residence halls).
