Simple habit, faster computer: Why weekly restarts matter

Keeping your computer fast and secure takes just a quick restart! While our team regularly pushes background updates, they cannot complete installation until your computer reboots.

Why a Restart matters: Clicking Shut Down puts your machine into hibernation and won’t finish updates. A true Restart clears system memory, resolves background glitches, and applies all pending security patches.

How to restart:

  • Windows: Go to Start menu > Power icon > Restart
  • Mac: Click the Apple icon > Restart

Note: Simply closing your laptop lid or locking your screen puts your device to sleep and will not complete updates.

Action requested:

  1. Save your work before restarting.
  2. Restart weekly – such as every Friday afternoon – to avoid workflow interruptions.
