Local poets will read their work and sign books this Friday at Chapters

Three poets from the Newberg area will read poetry and sign books at Chapters Books at 7 p.m. this Friday, Nov. 3, as part of the bookstore’s “First Friday” open house.

All three have long connections with Newberg and George Fox.

Ed Higgins is a George Fox Emeritus Professor of Writing and Literature. He has published widely both poetry and flash fiction, including the poetry collection Near Truth Only (2022), published by Fernwood Press. He is assistant editor of the online journal Brilliant Flash Fiction.

William Jolliff recently retired as professor of English at George Fox. His poetry collections include Twisted Shapes of Light (2015) and At Rest in My Father’s House (2023). He has also published works of nonfiction and criticism.

Nancy Thomas’ poetry publications include The Secret Colors of God and Close to the Ground. She is poetry editor for Friends Journal and has a poetry collection forthcoming from Fernwood Press.

All three authors will read and sign books as part of the event.
