Apply for clubs director position

Interested in becoming a student leader? Student Programs is seeking a qualified student to manage the clubs on campus for the 2020-21 academic year.

The clubs director oversees all university-recognized clubs. If you have an entrepreneurial spirit and are willing to help new clubs initiate and establish themselves, as well as the skills to manage logistics at an executive level, this role might be an excellent fit.

There will be an informational session held for this position and other Student Activities positions on Monday, Feb. 24, at 5:30 p.m. in the Hadlock Student Center lounge.

Volunteer for accessibility research project

Join Collegiate Day of Prayer

The university’s Parent Leadership Committee invites you to join us in a day devoted to prayer for the students, faculty and administration of George Fox. We invite our university community to find a 10- to 15-minute window in your work day to pray with a colleague, team, or on your own.

The 2020 Collegiate Day of Prayer is on Thursday, Feb. 27. We have partnered with the campus pastoral team to create this Liturgy of Prayer to help guide you as you pray.

Join James Project in yard work this Saturday

Each Saturday morning, a student-led group of volunteers heads out to serve with several long-standing community partners. This Saturday, Feb. 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., we will be partnering with Providence to do yard work for some elderly and disabled neighbors as we share the love and joy of Christ together.

Encourage undergraduates who have high aptitude as writers and an ability to communicate well with their classmates to apply to be Advanced Writing Fellows starting in fall 2020.

Advanced Writing Fellows are writing specialists who work with LIBA 100 students to assist their LIBA 100 writing projects through one-on-one consultations and small-group workshops.

AWF duties include meeting with students to discuss their writing; moderating student writing groups; visiting LIBA 100 classes; attending a weekly staff meeting; and completing administrative duties (e.g., maintaining appointment records, researching tutoring strategies, and attending training).

Faculty workshop: Strengths-based advising

As a faculty advisor, you can help students appreciate and harness their talents and strengths. The better you can help students apply their dominant talents, the greater will be their potential to consistently act with confidence, direction and hope.

In this workshop, you will explore your signature themes, discover how you use your strengths to manage the things you are responsible for each day, and embrace what motivates or energizes you.

You will learn coaching conversations to engage students in identifying and embracing their strengths and practice some strengths activities you can use in the classroom.

Volunteer for PT practice screening

The School of Physical Therapy is looking for volunteers with a complicated medical history to participate in a practice screening session on Monday, March 2, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in the auditorium at Friendsview.

In this session, our second-year DPT students will practice interviewing volunteers on their medical history paperwork and medication list.
