New exhibition comes to Minthorne Gallery

The Minthorne Gallery is hosting an exhibition titled “Graphic Resistance” by Carlos Barberena beginning Monday, Sept. 16, through Friday, Oct. 25.

The show will open with a talk by the artist at the Chehalem Cultural Center (415 E. Sheridan St.) from 6 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 16. A reception will follow in the Minthorne Gallery in the Hoover Academic Building from 7 to 8 p.m.

Barberena is known for his satirical relief prints and the use of images from pop culture, as well as from political and cultural tragedies. He is a Nicaraguan self-taught printmaker based in Chicago, where he runs the printmaking projects Bandolero Press and La Calaca Press.
