‘The Defining Debate in Political Economy’ lecture presented tonight
The university community is invited to a special lecture, “The Defining Debate in Political Economy: Capitalism, Socialism and Democracy,” at 6:30 p.m. tonight (Monday) in Hoover 105.
Presenting will be Peter Boettke, a professor of economics and philosophy at George Mason University and director of the F.A. Hayek Program for Advanced Study in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at the Mercatus Center. His topic will touch on the intersection of economics, business, policy and human flourishing.
The event is the latest installment of the annual Reiten Executive in Residence lecture series, hosted by the university’s College of Business.
Boettke has thought deeply and written about the issues of economic freedom and organization in society, as well as the moral and philosophical underpinnings of various political economic systems. He is an economist of the Austrian School and an author on a new book on F.A. Hayek: Economics, Political Economy and Social Philosophy.
Boettke received his PhD in economics from George Mason University in 1989 and has also taught at New York University, Stanford University, and the London School of Economics.
