All invited to free professional reading of Big Bridge’s new play June 23

The university community is invited to a professional reading of the Big Bridge Theatre Consortium’s play The Shakers of Mount Lebanon Will Hold a Peace Conference this Month, written by Arlene Hutton,  at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, in Wood-Mar Auditorium. There is no charge to attend, but tickets need to be reserved at

The Big Bridge Theatre Consortium is a group of university theatre programs, led by George Fox’s theatre department, that are committed to developing new plays dedicated to peace and interfaith conflict. During the week of June 18-22, Hutton and a host of professional theatre artists will work together to bring Hutton’s first draft to life. The play explores the 1905 Shaker community’s quest to sharpen their peace-witness to the world despite a community’s in-fighting, identity-politics, and struggle to survive.
