BBQ at Basketball Games

Fox Express, a George Fox Senior Capstone team, has brought Slick’s Big Time BBQ, a local company, to sell their tasty food at ALL home basketball games. Proceeds made by Fox Express will be re-invested into the George Fox athletic programs.

Slick’s will be offering a variety of creative BBQ menu items, at very affordable prices between $3.00 to $6.00 dollars:

  • Championship Pulled Pork Sliders smothered in their signature BBQ sauce
  • Smoked BBQ Beef Sliders with “Gluten Free” Whisky BBQ sauce
  • Zenner’s Double Smoked German Sausage or All Beef Dog’s
  • Spiced Cole Slaw
  • BBQ Mac Salad

Instructions for leaving cars on campus over break

If you are not driving home for Christmas break and need to leave your car on campus, here are a few things you need to know:

  • Any vehicle left on campus during Christmas break is left at your own risk should anything happen to it!
  • It is highly suggested that you leave your keys with Security in case your vehicle needs to be moved. If Security doesn’t have a key, your vehicle will be towed at your own expense.
  • Empty your vehicle of ALL items and lock it!
  • Park it next to other vehicles in the lot or ask Security where to leave it.

Musical theatre performers showcase their talent Dec. 13

Come show support for the 12 outstanding performers of the fall 2012 Musical Theater Performance class as students showcase various scenes they have worked on throughout the semester!

Accompanied by the talented James Pick, duets and group scenes will be featured from musicals such as Fiddler on the Roof, Newsies, The Little Mermaid, West Side Story, Spamalot, Little Women, Sweeney Todd and more. Admission is free!

Wheeler Sports Center closure information

Wheeler Sports Center will be closed from Friday, Dec. 14, at 5 p.m. through Monday, Jan. 14, at 6 a.m.

If there are campus groups (noon hoops players, racquetball players, etc.) who wish to make pre-arrangements for access, they are welcome to do so.

Sports & Entertainment Fair

Sign-ups for this fair came earlier this year. The annual Sports and Entertainment Fair sponsored by the Portland Trail Blazers will be held at the Rose Garden on Tuesday, Feb. 19, just before the game with the Phoenix Suns. The event includes a panel of industry leaders at 3:30 p.m., with the fair from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by attendance at the game.

Last year’s fair netted 20 hires, so the hiring game is on! Some of the organizations represented will be the Portland Trail Blazers, Portland Timbers, the NBA, Adidas, Tacoma Rainiers, Sacramento Kings, Alpha Broadcasting, Salem-Keizer Volcanoes and Sports Management Worldwide. Marketing, communication, management and media majors are targeted.

Career Services is coordinating the group registration and providing transportation to this fair. Payment is required to secure your registration and ticket. Complete your registration via BruinCareers at this link by Friday, Dec. 14. If paying by cash or check, please remit payment to Career Services on the first floor of the Stevens Center. You may also pay by credit card online.

We have 20 spots reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. The fee will be $10, discounted by the Career Services Office. This is a great opportunity to network and pursue your career in sports.

English Senior Thesis Presentations

Engineering’s ‘Wobble-Off’ event is this afternoon

Don’t forget to swing by the EHS Atrium today (Thursday) at 3 p.m. to see the engineering department’s ninth annual “Wobble-Off” competition.

Come and enjoy this demonstration of freshman engineering students’ first projects – an exciting variety of oscillating steam/air-operated engines. The event highlights the students’ first-year studies in engineering design, solid modeling and machining, and showcases the creative and impressive results of their design-build projects.

The students’ engines will compete in a variety of categories, including maximum speed, minimum vibration, maximum coast, cost efficiency and creativity/craftsmanship.

Please note change of schedule for Salem courier during holidays

The courier service will change for the Salem campus during the holiday season. We will be servicing Salem only on Mondays, Dec. 10 and Dec. 17, and Jan. 7 and Jan. 14. We will continue the Portland run as normal – all dates Monday through Friday when the Newberg campus is open.
