Candidates forum scheduled Sept. 27 at Villa Academic Complex

On Tuesday, Sept. 27, the Christian Chamber of Commerce of the Northwest’s monthly meeting in Newberg will feature a special candidates forum from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Villa Academic Complex.

Ballots will be mailed to voters next month for a special First Congressional District primary election to fill the vacancy created by the recent resignation of longtime U.S. Rep. David Wu. Six of the filed candidates have accepted the Christian Chamber’s invitation to take part in the forum: Republicans Jim Greenfield of Tigard, Pavel Goberman of Beaverton and Lisa Michaels of Beaverton, and Democrats Saba Ahmed of Portland, Robert Lettin of Sherwood and Dan Strite of Warrenton.

The Christian Chamber group in Newberg last year sponsored a well-attended forum involving state Senate and House candidates. Based on the success of that event, the group has scheduled this forum regarding the special congressional election.

Coffee, tea and pastries will be available at the meeting, which is free for Chamber members who R.S.V.P. at cccnw.net. A $5 donation is suggested from non-members and guests who R.S.V.P.
