Alumni invited to join in singing university song at welcome event

Each year at new student orientation, alumni take the stage to keep one of the university’s oldest traditions alive by singing the official George Fox University song, “Close Beside Chehalem’s Mountain,” to our new students and their parents. Once again this year, all alumni are invited to participate in this tradition on Thursday, Aug. 25, in the quad.

Alumni are invited to participate regardless of whether they know the song by heart or need to look at the sheet music. A short practice session will take place before the event begins. New students and their parents will be invited to sing the first verse and chorus at the end of the presentation.
