Ben Hawkins’ memorial service set for Thursday, April 3

Ben HawkinsA memorial service for George Fox University alumnus Ben Hawkins will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in Bauman Auditorium on the George Fox campus.

Hawkins died Sunday, March 30, in a car accident near Newberg. He attended George Fox from 2000 through 2004. He was an honor-roll student, a music major, and a member of the chapel band and jazz ensemble. Many in the community also knew him from Chapters Books and Coffee, where he worked until recently. Chapters is collecting messages for the Hawkins family at their site.

Breakfast for Champions event scheduled April 4

University employees are invited to Breakfast for Champions from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, in Portland Center’s Room 155. The event will feature a panel speaking about corporate responsibility and a keynote address from President Robin Baker. The event, sponsored by the group Partners for Diversity, is free.
