Join us for a Liberal Arts and Critical Issues presentation tonight (Monday), when Elton Villanueva, a special education assistant at South Eugene High School, presents “Deconstructing the American Dream via The Metacognitive System” in Hoover 105. The same presentation will be made from 5 to 6 p.m. and from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Synopsis: The American Dream, like race, is a socially defined construct, in that the existence of an American Dream requires people to collectively agree and accept that it does in fact exist. We will introduce the metacognitive system and analyze the notion that “all men are created equal” with the right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” via a metacognitive lens.
The theme for this semester’s LACI series is “The Future of the American Dream.” For more information, contact Laurie Fair at lfair@georgefox.edu.
