We are so excited to welcome new students and families to the George Fox community on Thursday, Aug. 24, and Friday, Aug. 25! The Welcome Weekend staff asks that employees please park in the new 99W lot (the old Park & Sell Lot where 99W splits) or the new Morse lot (by Plant Services and the softball field) if at all possible.
Bauman and Hoover parking lots are also options once the new lots fill up. Please keep all parking spots vacant in front of or near residence hall areas as well as the Stevens Center since new students and families will be accessing the offices in Stevens frequently (beginning on Monday, Aug. 21, and continuing through the week).
We appreciate all your help in welcoming our new students and families and apologize for any inconveniences this may cause!

Summer student employees: While it has been great to park in the staff lots this summer, the staff and faculty have now all returned! Please park now where your 2017-18 permit allows you to park and kindly vacate the staff lots for returning staff and faculty.
The only exceptions would be the 99W commuter lot, the Morse lot and the Austin lot, as they are still undergoing construction but are scheduled to be completed before school begins.
Thank you,

Faculty members: Here is some helpful information about how students are saving money by renting their textbooks through the Bruin Store.
- Cost Effective: Our rental program is better priced and more convenient for students than Amazon.

Now is the time to order university stationery. The collective order helps keep costs low – the higher the volume, the lower the cost. Consequently, it is most economical to overestimate needs and store a small surplus.
I will be accepting orders through Wednesday, Aug. 23. For order instructions, go to the marketing communications website. Continue to purchase all non-departmental stationery (including “second-sheet letterheadâ€) through the university’s Print Services.
Please contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Danette Newkirk (dnewkirk@georgefox.edu)

Bonnie Jerke, longtime director of career services at George Fox, passed away over the summer after a lengthy battle with cancer. She loved the Lord deeply and served George Fox students, faculty and staff very well for many, many years before retiring six years ago. She was a wonderful colleague and friend to many and will be greatly missed.
Bonnie’s friends are organizing a celebration and remembrance of Bonnie on Saturday, Sept. 23, from noon to 5 p.m. at Jaquith Park in Newberg. There will be a potluck lunch at 1 p.m., and those attending are asked to bring a dish to share with others. It will be a “come-and-go” event with a time of sharing after the lunch. Those organizing this event wanted to invite Bonnie’s colleagues and friends from the university community as well. They are asking that people RSVP on Bonnie’s Facebook page under the invite post from Linda Byrd.
Please continue to pray for Bonnie’s family and friends during this time of grief and loss.
