Are you interested in a great community service opportunity? James Project is in need of a 21-year-old student who is willing to become a certified university van driver and drive a group of George Fox volunteer students to 5Rock Ranch on Saturday, Oct. 21, to help out our friends at 5Rock.

Are you interested in learning some extremely important basic maintenance practices for your vehicle? The George Fox Car Club is hosting a DIY Workshop on checking vehicle fluids, changing your tire, jump starting a vehicle, and replacing wiper blades and light bulbs.

We host a home football game today (Saturday), so please take note of the important information below. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. against Willamette. We hope you’ll join in the fun!

If you have not already done so, be sure to move your cars out of the Bauman parking lot and the tennis court parking lot. This space will be dedicated to football fan parking, activities and vendors on Saturday. No parking will be permitted in these lots. 

Entrances to the football game
There will be two entrances into the game, and both are located in the Bauman parking lot directly behind the stadium.

Wheeler Sports Center closed
The Wheeler Sports Center will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This means the basketball gym, racquetball courts and locker rooms will be closed. The Fitness Center will remain open for normal business hours, but you will need to enter through the hallway entrance located on the field level, toward the end of the building near the tennis courts. There will be security officers who will ask you where you are headed; just let them know that you are going to work out.

Bauman Walkway
The sidewalk located between the football stadium and Bauman will be closed. Please walk around the building and do not move the barricade.

Circle Parking Lot
The circle parking lot near Wheeler will be closed for the day. This space is reserved for officials to park in. Officials will arrive as early as 10 a.m.

Sideline Passes
No one will be granted field access without a sideline pass. Sideline passes are issued to those who are required to work and/or have official business during the game.

Tickets
Students and staff can show their ID cards at the gate to get into the game free of charge. Additional tickets can be purchased online or at the gate. Or, visit the Athletics ticket website.

We hope to see you at the game at 1 p.m. and the tailgates prior to that!

Stop by Klages 250 at 1 p.m. today (Saturday) and see what Portland Model Engineers Club members are building in their home machine shops. Members will be displaying handmade engines and other mechanical projects. Members enjoy machine tools, clock making and pretty much anything that involves working with wood and metal.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Latino Heritage Club, the Intercultural Resource Center and ASC hosted a week-long picture campaign this week in the Intercultural Resource Center (Moore House)! The event ends today (Friday), so please come participate in our efforts to celebrate diversity and identity within our Bruin family.

If you are a declared social work major, who is a sophomore and planning to pursue a BSW degree, please be aware that the early BSW application deadline is Friday, Oct. 27. You will need to turn in your completed application to the social work office by this date to be considered for the early application process (the regular application deadline is Jan. 26).

In light of the recent shootings in Las Vegas, Security Services would like to remind you of the resources available in regards to an active shooter event. Training sessions and live exercises can be scheduled for your residence or work building by contacting Security Services at 503-554-2090.
