Come grab your late-night snacks at Snack2Share tonight (Wednesday) in the Bruin Den between 9 and 11 p.m. Venmo and cash are accepted.

Snack2Share is a ministry that harnesses the late-night cravings of college students to feed the hungry. When you buy a snack pack from us, you also provide a snack pack for those in need in Portland.

Snack2Share was created by four marketing students who want to make a difference with their school project. Donations are also welcome at any time through Venmo @Snack2Share. Just write “Donation” in the message section!

Intercultural Life is partnering with the Black Student Union for Black History Month to put together next week’s Matheteis! Join us at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, in Canyon Commons 103.

Matheteis is a discussion forum that comes from the Greek word for disciple. Our goal is to provide space for faculty, staff/administrators and students to discuss difficult topics in a cross-disciplinary approach that leads to learning and understanding.

We invite four panelists who are given two to three prompt questions ahead of time. After panelists have an opportunity to discuss the prompt questions, audience participants can also ask questions and join the discussion.

The topic will be the issue of gentrification. We want to engage in dialogue about the effects that less affluent communities experience in the process of renovating urban areas. Come join us for good conversation, snacks, and chapel credit!

The escaped slave Frederick Douglass has a fascinating biography, but was he a serious thinker?

Nicholas Buccola, a political theorist at Linfield College, answers this question with the resounding “yes!” Author of The Political Thought of Frederick Douglass: In Pursuit of American Liberty, Nick will speak on Douglass’s understanding of liberty in America at a special presentation tomorrow (Wednesday) in Hoover 105 at 6:30 p.m.

The importance of being ethical in the business world will be discussed at a special George Fox-hosted lecture presented by Jeff Grubb, a former vice president at Wells Fargo, on Thursday, March 15. Grubb’s free presentation, “A Christian in the Business World: Ethical Decisions in Challenging Times,” begins at 7 p.m. in Hoover 105.

Grubb has been a trustee at the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust since 2010. He retired from corporate life in 2017 after 35 years in financial services working for Progressive Insurance, U.S. Bank, U.S. Trust and Wells Fargo. He has also served on the advisory board of several private companies.

The lecture is being presented by George Fox’s Office of the President and College of Business. It is the latest installment of the university’s Reiten Lecture Executive in Residence Series.

Calling all singers, bands, spoken word artists, and podcasters: The Student Mixtape Project is back, and we are passionate about giving George Fox students a chance to “Be Heard.”

Being a part of the mixtape only takes two simple steps:

1. Fill out this survey so we can learn about who you are.
2. If you would like a free hour of studio recording time, after the survey, we will send you an Excel sheet to sign up for your session. If your audio track is already mixed, please send it directly to Paige Patterson at ppatteson13@georgefox.edu.

Who are we?
The George Fox Student Mixtape Project is a collaborative student project that started back in the early 2000s. It was revamped last year through KFOX Radio to produce 400 student mixtapes that were given away on Dead Day. With the help of ASC, we plan to produce 800 free mixtapes for the student body featuring selected works and release the entirety of all submissions online.

Want to support a missions trip to Nicaragua? Want to see a professor get “pied?” Come to the Bruin Den Tuesday through Friday, March 6-9, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Drop money into the jar with the name of the professor you want to see “pied.”

The top four jars with the most money in them will be “pied” on Tuesday, March 13, right after chapel! • By March 30 for May and June moves
• By April 27 for July and August moves

The SpiL Shalom team invites the campus community to an on-campus worship event, “The Burn,” this Friday, March 9, from 6 p.m. to midnight in the Stevens Center. The music will continue all night, as led by 12 different student worship groups.

Our goal: To make intentional space for God to move and speak. What does it look like to worship God through the “highs and lows” … when we feel like it and even when we don’t… when we are happy and well fed and when we are tired/cranky?

In a world where we are so fast-paced and easily bored, it so critical that we learned the discipline of commitment, especially to the Lord our God! So, we are challenging students to commit to the entirety of the six-hour event to worship Jesus and sit in his love with expectancy. However, please feel free to come and go as you need, we are just encouraging students to challenge themselves and worship even when it gets uncomfortable.

We will also have some stations/communion available. There is so much potential to bring all of our groups together for a night of unity; we hope you will join us!
