Be sure to join in fun of Homecoming festivities

October 4th, 2018

Our Homecoming football game against Whitworth University is tomorrow (Saturday), so please take note of the important information below. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

We’ve got plenty of fun Homecoming activities planned for the game – including a free concert by Hit Machine at the tailgate area prior to the game – and we will be unveiling the new Alumni Plaza at 11:30 a.m.! A full schedule of this weekend’s events can be found at georgefox.edu/homecoming.

Be sure to move your cars out of the Bauman parking lot and the tennis court parking lot on Friday evening. This space will be dedicated to football fan parking, activities and vendors on Saturday. No parking will be permitted in these lots.

Homecoming Tailgate Activities
Join us at 11:30 a.m. for the unveiling of the new Alumni Plaza, complete with a 10-foot tall bruin. Afterwards, head to the Bauman parking lot at noon for a free concert by Hit Machine, a free rock wall in our kid zone, affinity tailgates and plenty of other activities.

If you are an alumnus of the university, don’t forget to stop by the alumni tent to pick up your free T-shirt, which will serve as free admission for you and your family into the football game.

Entrances to the Football Game
There will be two entrances into the game, and both are located in the Bauman parking lot directly behind the stadium.

Wheeler Sports Center Closed
The Wheeler Sports Center will be closed from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. This means the basketball gym, racquetball courts and locker rooms will be closed.

Bauman Walkway
The sidewalk located between the football stadium and Bauman will be open for the Alumni Plaza unveiling. The entrance to the game will still be a disability entrance, and you will need to walk around Bauman to enter the stadium. You will, however, be able to exit and enter back in through the disability entrance to see and take photos in the alumni plaza.

Circle Parking Lot
The circle parking lot near Wheeler will be closed for the day. This space is reserved for officials to park in. Officials will arrive as early as 10 a.m.

Sideline Passes
No one will be granted field access without a sideline pass. Sideline passes are issued to those who are required to work and/or have official business during the game.

Tickets
Students and staff can show their ID cards at the gate to get into the game free of charge. In addition, all George Fox alumni who show their homecoming T-shirt at the entrance of the game will receive free entry.

Additional tickets can be purchased online or at the gate. Or, visit the athletics ticket website.

We hope to see you at the game at 1:30 p.m. and the Homecoming tailgate prior to that!

Join in celebrating unveiling of new Alumni Plaza tomorrow

October 4th, 2018

Have you walked by the area between the Ross Center and Stoffer Family Stadium and wondered what was going on? If so, we have exciting news: The space will be home to a new Alumni Plaza featuring a 10-foot-tall bronze bear! The plaza will serve as a visual reminder of our pride in being Bruins and celebrate the legacy of George Fox.

On the Saturday of homecoming weekend (tomorrow), we will host a special Alumni Plaza unveiling ceremony from 11:30 to noon. Free bear claws and coffee will be served, and a tailgate time follows in the Bauman parking lot. We hope you can join us!

The unveiling event is one of many activities happening that weekend. For a complete schedule of homecoming events, visit this page.

Help student find lost lanyard and keys

October 4th, 2018

I have lost my lanyard that, on it, had my car keys, house key, mailbox key and ID card. It is a white and gold lanyard that says “George Fox” and has a Star Wars FOB and an octopus keychain on it. I last had it in the Bruin Den.

Return them for a reward!
