All are invited to the university’s annual Dalton Lecture at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 11, in Bauman Auditorium. This year’s lecture, “Two Degrees of Separation: Climate Change and the Pursuit of Truth in a Post-truth World†will be presented by Richard L. Lindroth, the Vilas Distinguished Achievement professor of ecology and recent associate dean of research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Lindroth’s presentation will explore the fundamental premises of science, how humans engage with facts, and how to improve science communication across ideological, cultural and tribal divisions for the betterment of humanity and the sake of the world.
Following his presentation, a George Fox student research poster session and dessert reception will take place in the Bauman lobby.
Lindroth will also speak in a class in Wood-Mar Auditorium at 3 p.m. on Monday, March 11, presenting a lecture entitled “What Can Chemistry Tell Us about Ecology? Insights into the Ecological and Evolutionary Success of an Iconic Forest Tree Species.†All are welcome to this event as well.

A tour of George Fox University’s newest building, the 48,000-square-foot Hadlock Student Center, will be part of the Friday, March 1, meeting of the George Fox University Legacy League.
In a change of format from the usual talk or performance presentation, the event will offer a “show and tell†of the newly opened building just steps away from the luncheon location in the school’s Canyon Commons dining hall. The meeting of the support organization, formerly the George Fox University Auxiliary, starts at noon and is open to the public.
The cost is $10 at the door, and reservations must be made by Tuesday, Feb. 26, by calling Judy Woolsey at 503-538-7314 or Connie Magee at 503-927-5011.

Join the Health and Human Performance department as we begin a running training program for students and employees.
The training program is designed to prepare students, faculty and staff for a 5K, 10K or half marathon of their choice. It’s open to all levels, with different route options provided each week depending on goal distance, level of experience, and/or time constraints for that given day. If you are unable to make a scheduled group run, please contact the HHP department to learn about other training plan options.

The School of Physical Therapy is excited to host Dr. Patricia L. Scheets, director of quality and clinical outcomes for Infinity Rehab, on Wednesday, Feb. 27, in Hoover 105 from 6 to 7 p.m.
Scheets will present the topic “What’s the Big Deal About the Movement System?†The purpose of this lecture is to provide insight to the most recent work related to the movement system, particularly the work of Dr. Scheets and of the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy.
