The Center for Peace and Justice presents Promised Land, an indigenous film, on Tuesday, March 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. in Hoover 104. This film screening counts toward faculty development hours this semester.
Chinook Tribal Chairman Tony Johnson and the producers, Vasant and Sarah Salcedo, will be there for a Q&A following the film. Admission is free and the public is welcome.
Promised Land is an award-winning social justice documentary that follows two tribes in the Pacific Northwest, the Duwamish and the Chinook, as they fight for the restoration of treaty rights they have long been denied. In following their story, the film examines a larger problem in the way that the government and society still look at tribal sovereignty.

A George Fox student and intern at Catalyst High School in Newberg is looking for mentors for students at Catalyst.
Students come to Catalyst for a variety of reasons, including academic circumstances, anxiety, depression, and social pressures. We are looking for people who are passionate about working with youth, encouraging, and supportive to be positive role models for these high school students.
Mentors would meet with students for about one hour a week between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Catalyst building. Catalyst is 1.5 miles from George Fox, and we could coordinate transportation if needed.

We have students who would benefit from extra encouragement and guidance from you. You would help them understand materials and assignments in general algebra, science, history and English classes.
Tutors would meet with students for about one to two hours a week between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Catalyst building. Follow this link for qualifications and responsibilities.

The university is participating in a research study titled “Leading Change: Examining the Relationships Between Leadership Style, Organizational Culture and Change Readiness in Christian Universities,” and your input is requested.

A group of Master of Social Work students are teaming up with CycleBar to host a cycling class to raise money for Compassion First. Compassion First is a Beaverton-based organization that helps victims of sex trafficking in Indonesia by funding rescues, offering safe aftercare, and empowering the women and children in their future endeavors.
Come party with us at CycleBar Tanasbourne (2110 NE Allie Ave., Unit 608 in Hillsboro) this Saturday, March 9, at 1 p.m. as we cycle to upbeat music and support a good cause at the same time. The class costs $25, and all of the proceeds go to Compassion First. Towels and shoes will be provided, as well as post-ride snacks!
