Bon Appetit’s culinary journey along Route 66 is headed to New Mexico today (Wednesday). We’ll be on the Klages patio between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. serving up pork adovada tamales, calabacitas, cactus salad, biscochitos cookies, and horchata for $7.25. See you there!

The Hadlock Student Center is hosting a Family Day on Friday, June 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. We are excited to share this space with George Fox employees and their immediate family members!

If you plan to attend, please note:

• We will not have staffing for roped climbing at the climbing wall.
• Sandals and other open-toe shoes are not permitted.
• Non-marking athletic shoes are required in the gym and fitness center rooms.
• Children under the age of 14 are allowed in all areas of the HSC except the cardio/weight area.
• Family members aged 14 to 17 can use the cardio/weight equipment when directly supervised by a parent or guardian.
• Please take a few minutes in advance to complete the waiver on MyGFU for yourself (if you haven’t done so already) and a separate form for each family member who will be attending.

Starting July 1, 2019, George Fox students who do not plan to bring a vehicle to campus can request an exemption from being automatically charged the parking permit fee by completing this parking waiver form. Please read the waiver form thoroughly as you fill it out.

By signing this form you agree that you will not bring a vehicle and park on George Fox’s Newberg campus or the surrounding Good Neighbor areas (as specified in the parking policies) between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

If your vehicle is found parked on campus during these times, the following will occur:

• You will be automatically issued and charged for a parking permit and be fined an additional $75 for parking an unregistered vehicle.
• You will be required to pick up the permit from Campus Public Safety and an officer will assist you in the proper placement of the permit.
• Note: There may be additional fines for any other violations according to the parking policies of the university.

If you are doing an off-campus internship (clinical, student teaching, etc.) which limits your time on campus to less than two hours during normal business hours, or are taking 4 or fewer credit hours in a semester, you may be eligible for this waiver. However, you must obtain a special temporary permit from Campus Public Safety and display it appropriately to avoid the above-listed sanctions.

A training session for Cascade Server, the system used to edit the university website, will be offered on Friday, June 28, from 10 a.m. to noon.

After eight years as the operations manager for housing and residence life, assisting thousands of families, she is starting a new adventure. Please join us to thank her for her investment in many students’ lives.

The Campus Public Safety office is offering a series of CPR, AED and First Aid courses in July and August. Courses are designed for the general public, whether you need First Aid and/or CPR and AED for a job requirement or want basic classes for your own needs.  

The sessions will teach you how to perform CPR on adults, children and infants, including rescue breathing with a mask; how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED); and how to help someone who is choking. Also included is basic First Aid, choking, and care for common medical, injury and environmental emergencies.
