New psychology course offered this fall

August 21st, 2019

Are you interested in someday tutoring, teaching Sunday school, or working with people? The psychology department is initiating a new class for advanced undergraduates or graduate students who are interested in the brain science underlying teaching and learning.

The course is Psyc 465: Psychology of Teaching and Learning, and will focus on recent research that will allow you to cut through the myths and see how learning really works – and how tutoring can be targeted to meet the needs of the individual students.

Class will be highly experiential, allowing students to target the course outcomes to their specific interests. We will meet on Mondays from 4 to 4:50 p.m. in Hoover 211. Email Sue O’Donnell (sodonnell@georgefox.edu) if you have any questions.

Call for stationery orders

August 20th, 2019

Now is the time to order university stationery. The collective order helps keep costs low – the higher the volume, the lower the cost. Consequently, it is most economical to overestimate needs and store a small surplus.

I will be accepting orders through Friday, Aug. 23. For order instructions, go to the marketing communications website. Continue to purchase all non-departmental stationery (including “second-sheet letterhead”) through the university’s Office of Mail Services.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you,
– Jamison Loop (jloop@georgefox.edu)

Be aware of large call volume in student accounts

August 20th, 2019

Due to the high volume of calls received by the Office of Student Accounts, we urge you when you call to please leave a message so we can return calls in the order they are received.

Having the Student ID in your message and stating the reason for your call will expedite the return call. The fastest response will be to email at studentaccounts@georgefox.edu.

Thank you so much for your help!

Leaders still needed for Life Groups this fall

August 19th, 2019

The Office for Spiritual and Intercultural Life is looking for Life Group leaders for our eight-week fall Life Groups (the weeks of Sept. 16 to Nov. 8).

Life Groups are small groups of undergraduate students who meet together for prayer, Bible study and fellowship. Groups meet weekly for 60 to 90 minutes at the time and location of your choosing. Participants will select the group they wish to participate in based on the details that leaders provide.

Groups are encouraged to use one of the curriculum options recommended by the Office for Spiritual Life that parallel other themes that are being explored in chapel. We welcome our alumni, family members of George Fox employees and students, and members of our wonderful local churches to consider leading a group.

Our fall leader meeting will take place on Thursday, Sept. 5, from noon to 1:30 p.m., and lunch will be provided. For more information and to sign up, visit our webpage.
