We are excited to welcome the families of our undergraduate students to campus Friday, Oct. 25, through Sunday, Oct. 27, for Family Weekend. We are expecting more than 200 families to join us for multiple events.
Check-in for families is set for Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. in the Stevens Center lobby. Thank you for helping our families to feel known and welcome!

Come to the football game this Saturday, Oct. 26, for Family Weekend! The kickoff is at 1 p.m. Come decked out in George Fox gear to show your support and spirit as we face off against Pacific University.
The tailgate opens at 11 a.m. with seven different vendors, including Dutch Bros, Cream Northwest, Tall Boys Fish & Chips, Dogs & Fries, Miss Hannah’s Gourmet Popcorn and BobaBlastic.
There will also be a chili cook-off before the game, so make sure you come and taste the chili and cast a vote on the Blue Zone app during the tailgate.
Security reminder: Please have all cars removed from the Bauman parking lot by 10 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25.

The goal of Purple Thursday is to raise awareness about domestic, spousal, teen dating, and intimate partner violence. Use your clothing to start conversations with others about domestic violence. Send some love to our furry friends at the Newberg Animal Shelter! Students in the Management 300 course are organizing a “Fetch” donation drive. Drop off donations today (Wednesday) in the big black bins located at two locations – one in Hoover and one in Roberts Center, just inside the front doors.
The “Fetch” list:
- Foods: Premium dog food (adult and small bites), premium canned dog food, kitten & cat food (dry and canned), dog treats
- Cleaners: Simple Green, window spray, dish soap, hand sanitizer, 409 spray, laundry detergent (any high-efficiency brand), Tide Free & Gentle (high-efficiency brand), bleach, sponges/scrub brushes, garbage bags (kitchen size), paper towels
- Other: Flea medications, toys/Kongs, small fleece/soft blankets

President Robin and Ruth Baker cordially invite employees to celebrate together at this year’s Christmas Concert, “Arise, Shine!â€, on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 2:30 p.m. in Bauman Auditorium.
Employees are entitled to two complimentary tickets for Sunday’s matinee or a single ticket for any of the other performances (on Dec. 6 or Dec. 7). Following the concert on Sunday, employees are invited to a Christmas open house at the president’s home from 5 to 7 p.m. at 701 E. Franklin St. in Newberg.
You can select your concert tickets online at this link (be sure to select “GFU Employee†in the drop-down menu on the page that pops up after making your seat selection).
If selecting your complimentary seats for Sunday, you may disregard the note that states employees are only entitled to one ticket per event; however, you must still select “Okay, I will bring my ID to the door†in the drop-down menu.

Meghan Sullivan, an eminent philosopher and a professor from the University of Notre Dame, will give a presentation titled “The Love Imperative — A Defense†this Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. in Hoover 105. The campus community is invited to the event, hosted by the William Penn Honors Program.
Sullivan will unpack the Christian love imperative, defend it from some difficult objections, and indicate how it might be the basis for a mainstream philosophical approach to ethics.

The Student Congress on Racial Reconciliation (SCORR) trip is an opportunity for students to engage in conversations surrounding diversity to prepare to attend the SCORR conference at Biola University in February.
The cohort of students selected to be on the SCORR trip will learn how to challenge perceptions, to engage in reconciliation, and will be equipped with tools to navigate difficult conversations surrounding diversity topics.
