The Oregon Health Authority recently updated its face-covering guidelines (Oct. 19, 2020):
“Masks, face coverings or face shields are required at all times for employees, contractors and volunteers in public and private workplaces, including hallways, bathrooms, classrooms, elevators, lobbies, break rooms, meeting rooms and other common and shared spaces, unless employees, contractors or volunteers are at a private, individual workspace not shared with other people.â€Â
Key changes include:
- Face coverings are now required in all conference rooms.
- Mesh masks, lace masks, and masks with valves for exhalation are prohibited.
- Face coverings with openings, holes, gaps, or vents are prohibited.
We appreciate your compliance with these guidelines as we work together to keep one another healthy. If you have questions, contact the COVID operations team at cot@georgefox.edu.

Homemade or store-bought food and beverage snacks may be shared with other employees or students on campus so long as these guidelines are followed:
- Everyone should wash their hands before and after preparing, serving, and eating food. Use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
- For items like a shared bag of chips or salad, use a clean utensil to get the item out or tip the bag to get the item.
- Use single-use options or identify one person to serve sharable items like salad dressings and condiments, so that multiple people are not handling the items.
- If there is not one person identified to serve food, discourage sharing items like a serving spoon; rather, each person should use their own clean utensil to dish out the food.
- Follow all guidelines regarding space capacity limits and physical distancing, and be sure to wear face coverings (when not eating).
- Remember Bon Appetit is the Newberg campus’s exclusive caterer and is happy to discuss your food and beverage needs for meetings and events.
If you have questions, email the COVID operations team at cot@georgefox.edu.

Have you experienced a loss due to a fire? The Social Work Club invites you to join us for a student peer support group over four Sundays in November.
We’ll be meeting in the student lounge of the Meridian Street House (206 N. Meridian St.) from 6 to 7 p.m. Sundays on Nov. 1, 8, 15 and 22. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
This will offer an open and safe space for us to learn from each other, begin to heal together, and share our experiences of living through a fire. The group will be led by senior Ashley Martin, who experienced the loss of her family’s home and community in the California Camp Fire in fall 2018.
As students living away from home while a fire destroyed our communities, we may need a space to process the different feelings and experiences related to losing our homes.
For more information, contact Ashley Martin (amartin18@georgefox.edu).
