Extend the Be Known promise to Scholarship Summit guests Friday

January 25th, 2022

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will be hosting Scholarship Summit on campus this Friday, Jan. 28. With 600-plus visitors expected on campus, we are asking George Fox students and employees to help extend the Be Known promise throughout the day.

Here’s what you can keep in mind:

  • Use street parking instead of campus parking lots. Guests will be arriving on campus Friday morning between 8 and 8:30 a.m. and will fill all the main campus parking lots.
  • Be mindful of guests in your living area. There will be housing tours circulating through Edwards, Gulley, Pennington, and HMS from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tour groups will be viewing dorm lobbies and a room on the first floor of each dorm.
  • Plan for a busier than usual Canyon Commons. Guests will use the main server line and will be encouraged to dine in CCD 101-103. If you see a family looking for a spot to sit, invite them to join you!

If you have questions, email visit@georgefox.edu or call Lauren Hill at 503-554-2245.

Didn’t get ‘What’s Bruin’? Check your spam folder

January 25th, 2022

So, if you didn’t receive it in your inbox, be sure to look in spam, and just for good measure, be sure to mark it “not spam” for future issues.

This week’s edition has paycheck news, a Columbia Sportswear offer, helpful links to Providence resources, introductions of new employees, and updates about the work of your colleagues.

Wednesday, Feb. 2, marks National Girls and Women in Sports Day, and we would love to extend an invitation to all girls teams (youth and high school levels) to join us at our women’s basketball game that night at 6 p.m. as we take on the Linfield Wildcats.

We will be inviting youth teams onto the court during halftime, where they will be honored as our next generation of female athletes by our current collegiate athletes. We are excited to take this opportunity to recognize these girls for all their hard work and inspire them to keep pursuing their passions in sports!

If you are interested in attending, please email nknipe20@georgefox.edu with an estimated headcount and your team name. This will ensure free admission. We encourage the girls to wear their jerseys so that we can easily identify teams as they arrive.
