Drop by financial aid’s ‘Help Me Hangout’ today in the library

Did you receive our “Be Known, Be Done, May 1” email, but need help completing the items listed (FAFSA, MyGeorgeFox To-Do List, Accepting/Declining your financial aid, etc.)? Then our financial aid “Help Me Hangout” is for you! Join us in the Murdock Library (Room 112) today (Thursday) between 9 a.m. and noon.

One of the major steps to ensuring you are ready for the fall of 2022 is making sure that all your financial aid is finalized and ready to go. Everyone’s financial aid process looks a little different, so we want to provide you with the steps specific to you. Each week we will be sending out a reminder email to let you know the steps you need to take to “be done” by May 1.

The university’s esports team has several incoming freshmen and transfer recruits joining our thriving program. Now the time has come to extend player spots to our current Bruins!

For our fall 2022 season, we will be competing in Rocket League, League of Legends, Apex Legends, Overwatch, Valorant and Smash Bros. Campus-wide VPN and antivirus update

IT will be updating the software that is used for VPN and antivirus called FortiClient. You may see messages that indicate an update or change. The updates will start today. This update may require a restart of your computer in the next few days depending on the update your system receives.

A farewell reception will be held for Andrea Byerley, assistant director of Disability & Accessibility Services, on Tuesday, April 26, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Murdock Library (Room 101 & 102). A brief time of sharing will begin at 3 p.m.

Explore virtual reality in Canyon Commons on May 6

Are you interested in virtual, augmented, or mixed reality technology? If so, come join us for a virtual reality exhibition in Canyon Commons banquet rooms 102 & 103 on Friday, May 6, from noon to 3 p.m.!

We will be hosting special guest Robert Victorino to share recent implementations of the technology at Portland Community College, followed by the opportunity to try out a variety of VR and AR experiences from our own community.

Come to UREC’s Family Night in Hadlock

University Recreation invites George Fox employees and their families to join us in the Hadlock Student Center for Family Night!

This event will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 29, and will include full access into the facility, various sports and games (including ladder golf, cornhole, giant Jenga, indoor soccer, and a bow and arrow competition), a movie, and more. Roped climbing on the tall rock wall will be available from 4 to 7 p.m.

For our last event of the semester, Sigma Zeta is partnering with the biology and chemistry student councils to host a “Newberg Cleanup” on Earth Day this Friday, April 22.

Join us in the spirit of stewardship and for a fun competition to collect the most trash in an hour! The pair of students who collect the most will receive Earth Day-themed prizes, and there will be ice cream, various toppings and popsicles for everyone!

Return your Good Neighbor permits at the end of spring term

This is a reminder that all Good Neighbor parking permits need to be returned to the Campus Public Safety office by the end of spring term. You may turn them in from April 20 through May 6. Any permits not returned to Campus Public Safety by May 6 will result in a $25 charge to your student account.
