On Thursday, July 14, we will roll out Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for our FortiClient VPN connection. You will be required to use the OKTA Verify app with Push Notifications setup as one of your MFA options.
Like other Single Sign On apps the VPN system will send a push notification to your OKTA Verify app. If you don’t already have the OKTA Verify app, please install it on your device before you need to use VPN. Here are directions how to opt in to Multi-Factor Authentication.
The FortiClient VPN set-up will be transparent and not require any changes on your side. The Windows and Mac clients should look similar to this, and you should not need to adjust anything.

Looking for meaningful volunteer work and career experience? Interested in a career related to EMS/firefighting/emergency response?
Dundee Fire and Rescue (a few miles from the George Fox campus) is interested in interviewing potential recruits. New volunteers would attend a weekend academy that starts in September and ends in November.
Volunteering and being a student is very doable – past and current students have been a part of this, and it’s a great way to serve the community. The station features single dorm rooms, great study spaces and workout equipment. It’s an awesome place to hang out.
For more information, contact Adri Lee at alee21@georgefox.edu.

If you have not done so already, please complete the Serve Day Employee survey. We like to place employees with community partners they’re already connected to or in roles they enjoy. You can note any preferences, limitations or questions you have, and we’ll take them into consideration when we place you on a team over the summer.
If you’re planning to be on sabbatical next semester or know of a significant change that will keep you away from campus during the week of Serve Day, please let us know using the form. It is essential for our planning.
Please note: The survey is required for all Newberg employees.
See you on Wednesday, Sept. 14, for another great Serve Day!

Rick Muthiah, director of Learning Support Services, is recruiting three or four graduate students to work as academic mentors for high-risk students on the Newberg campus during the fall 2022 semester.
Academic mentors will work seven to 10 hours per week, and will be paid $14.75 per hour. Students can find more details and application information on the HandShake position posting. The position is open to any George Fox graduate student, including incoming students.
Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled. Academic mentors will have the opportunity to continue in the spring semester based on their availability and ongoing need for the program.
Past success coaches have commented on how much they grew through the experience, especially through their one-on-one sessions with high-risk students. The role is not a formal counseling role, but has similarities that can be especially helpful for graduate students who will be entering helping professions.
Please contact Rick Muthiah (rmuthiah+mentor@georgefox.edu) if you have questions.
