Thinking of applying to PA or PT programs? Check out these support services

If you’re thinking about applying to the physician assistant (PA) or physical therapy (DPT) programs at George Fox, we have support services for you.

The registrar’s office has created a list of prerequisite classes that can be visible above your degree plan to ensure you stay on track when registering for classes. You don’t have to take these classes immediately, but they’re available when you’re ready.

Your CAP coach and faculty advisor can also see these classes, providing you with the best support. Complete this form to get access to this support service.

We also have some helpful worksheets for you to track all the admissions requirements (think: GPA, healthcare experience/shadowing, and volunteer work). Reach out to your program admissions counselor for more info about these resources.

Join the School of Theology for a fire pit chapel Thursday

The School of Theology is offering a very unique chapel on the morning of Thursday, Nov. 10, at the fire pit. Come enjoy an insightful faculty talk, live music, cozy fire pit (with s’more making!), and gourmet lunch. Non-theology students are welcome. Chapel credit is not offered.

Worship God with watercolors this Wednesday

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 6:30 p.m. and join us for CREO, an evening of art and reflection in gratitude. We’ll be in Canyon Commons 102-103.

You’ll have the opportunity to respond to Scripture and worship music through watercolors, all while enjoying community and fellowship. There is no requirement to be “artistically talented,” and all are welcome! In-person Bauman chapel credit is available!

We’re currently updated to Minecraft 1.19.2, featuring a mostly vanilla experience with the addition of some quality of life features like multiplayer sleep and (optional) proximity voice chat.

In the Minthorne Gallery, we will be showing assistant professor Seth Van Der Eems’ installation “A Walled Garden.” The Lindgren Gallery is featuring portrait paintings by Portland-based artist Reed Clarke. Don’t miss these two locations during your walk around Newberg!

Hear Jazz Ensemble, award-winning trombonist on Nov. 12

Hello from the university’s performing arts department! You are invited to our Evening of Jazz concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, in Bauman Auditorium.

We will be hosting award-winning trombonist Joseph L. Jefferson with the George Fox University Jazz Ensemble, directed by Nathanael Ankeny. This concert is free, and no tickets are required.

Jefferson will also host a low brass workshop from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, in Ross 208. All low brass players are welcome free (no admission required).

All invited to swing dance tomorrow night in the FoxHole

Come join Swing Dance Club tomorrow (Saturday) in the FoxHole from 6:30 to 9 p.m.!

All students are welcome with no partner or prior experience necessary. All employees are welcome as long as you come with a partner or group.

The basic lesson starts at 6:30 p.m., where you’ll learn everything you need to know. The intermediate lesson follows at 7 p.m., when William and Nessie will be teaching closed position and triple step. The free dance is from 7:30 to 9 p.m., so you can dance the night away!

Resource for employees: Students in Distress folder

The Students in Distress folder is a resource for all employees to use. It is only accessible using George Fox’s email.

It includes information about how to respond and who to contact in a variety of student crisis scenarios and situations.

There is also information about your responsibilities as a faculty or staff member if a student discloses an incident of sexual misconduct or a Title IX situation to you. A summary of FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) responsibilities is also included in this resource packet, as well as what to do in a campus emergency.
