A Benefit for the Tilikum Scholarship Fund

Tilikum Center for Retreats is pleased to announce our fifth annual run and walk event to raise funds to get needy children to summer camp. The race will take place at Champoeg State Park at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 14th and will begin at the River Side Day Use Area. Participants must raise donations per kilometer they run or walk. A minimum donation of $35 is required to enter the event. Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each race. All participants’ names will be entered into a drawing for several prizes. For more information call Tilikum at 503-538-2763 or email tilikum@georgefox.edu.

This Friday (March 16th) marks the 4 year anniversary of the war in the Middle East.
Come mourn with us this by candle light, Thursday night, March 15th, at 7pm in the Quad as we reflect on the pains of the war and pray for those have been affected by it.

Skene Award for  Fiction and Literary Nonfiction :Contestants should submit two short pieces (under 1000 words) or one longer piece (1000 to 3000 words).  Writing will be judged on originality, quality of expression, and significance of the work’s contribution to the spirit of reconciliation.
Atkinson Award for Poetry :Contestants should submit up to three poems, none of which may exceed 36 lines. Writing will be judged solely on artistic merit.

The Student Life Office has applications and job descriptions ready for the taking for those interested in applying to work on campus with summer residents. The job is varied in its tasks which range from administrative duties such as check in/out procedures for all students on campus as well as helping create community during the summer months. If you are interested stop by today and pick up an application!

Graduating seniors…

Alumni Relations, Student Alumni Council, and the Senior Class Representatives are hosting Senior Salute on March 16 from 10:40 a.m.-2:00 p.m.  This event includes a free catered brunch, workshops filled with helpful information about life after Fox and great prizes.  

All seniors have been granted a ½ day excused absence to attend Senior Salute by the Academic Council. 

The short brunch program will consist of reflections from young alumni and amazing senior entertainment.  The workshops that follow will be on the topics of  “Insurance,” “Faith After Fox,” “Professional Networking,” “The Process of Buying a Home,” “The Transition from College to Real Life,” and “The Truth About Auto Repair.”  Session presenters include Dirk Barram, Ben Salisbury ’04, and other young alumni and local business people.
