The university’s health fair is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, in the Stevens Center atrium. Come and see what it means to be truly healthy, with special guests Portland Running Company, Providence Newberg Medical Center, and local massage therapists.
Do you have used golf clubs in your garage that are just itching to get back out on the course? Students in our golf classes would love to give them new life. A Red Cross fall blood drive is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, in the Wheeler Sports Center gym. If you haven’t signed up to give blood yet, you still can. Employees interested in learning more about long-term care insurance are invited to an information meeting from noon to 1 p.m. this Friday, Oct. 3, in the Cap and Gown Room on the Newberg campus.
Long-term care insurance helps protect your retirement savings and other assets from potentially devastating long-term care costs. With the average cost of care being $68,985 per year, long-term care costs could seriously impact your nest egg.
The university is hosting a series of sessions about enrollment in this voluntary insurance through mid-October. Employees have the advantage of this one-time “guarantee issue,” which means they are guaranteed to be issued a policy upon application with no medical questions asked.

Bon Appetit would like to thank everyone for the success and overwhelming support given by the vast majority of students with the first “Trayless Tuesday.” With few exceptions, we received dozens of very positive comments from students and we’re encouraged that so many share concerns regarding the amount of food typically wasted each meal and how it affects our environment.
Our thanks go out to everyone for making this small weekly sacrifice of convenience, and we look forward to continued support and success with the remaining “Trayless Tuesdays” this year.

George Fox University, Portland Central Young Life and the Act Six program will host a forum for the Portland community to discuss the recent campus incident and racial reconciliation issues on Friday, October 3, at 4:00 p.m. at Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church. The church address is 3138 N. Vancouver Ave., Portland. Students are welcome to attend.
