The GFU Health and Counseling Center will host a walk-in flu shot clinic from 4  to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, in Room 155b. The cost is $15. Students cost is $1.50 with GFU student insurance (Aetna). Pioneer Education Health Trust will cover the cost for covered employees. A receipt can be provided at request to submit to your insurance for reimbursement as needed. Please note Kaiser Insurance offers free flu shots to members at local Kaiser facilities.

Lost and found tables will be set up in the Bruin Den on Tuesday, Oct. 14, and Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day. Please stop by to check for your missing items. All items not reunited with their owners will be donated to charitable causes on Wednesday.

The Newberg campus will take its mid-semester holiday on Monday, Oct. 13. No classes will be held, and the university’s offices, bookstore, switchboard, and library will be closed. The Portland and Boise sites will remain open.

Bruin, Jr. (that little leather guy, somewhat resembling a Bruin, that everyone wrestles over during the Bruin Brawls) is hidden outside somewhere on campus!

Bruin, Jr. is fair game. The goal is to have possession of Bruin, Jr.  That means you can capture, steal, kidnap, abduct, commandeer, or hijack him.

The class of 2011 has possession, but did they hide him well enough?

Join Multicultural Services in hearing Tim Jacob Wise share his thoughts, “Beyond Diversity: Challenging Racism in an Age of Backlash” Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m. at Portland Community College, Sylvania Campus.

Wise is among the most prominent anti-racist writers and activists in the U.S. and has spoken in 48 states and on more than 400 college campuses, including Harvard, Stanford, and the Law Schools at Yale and Columbia. Wise is the author of White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son and Affirmative Action: Racial Preference in Black and White. A collection of his essays, Speaking Treason Fluently: Anti-Racist Reflections From an Angry White Male, will be published in the fall of 2008, and his fourth book, Between Barack and a Hard Place: Race and Whiteness in the Age of Obama, will be released in the spring of 2009.

A final meeting, discussing “Profiles in Distortion: Misusing Data to Justify Racism and Privilege,” is set for 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at The Forum, Building 3, Rock Creek Campus, 17705 N.W. Springville Road.

GFU’s annual Sadies Salsa is Friday, October 17th from 8:00PM-10:00PM in Wheeler Sports Center!

We’re going to have instructors giving salsa lessons, and will be serving virgin margaritas and chips and salsa! Wear your salsa attire!

For girls, this means cocktail like dresses and for guys, slacks and a nice shirt.
