Don’t forget to participate in the university’s mock election. Stop by the voting booth in the Bruin Den between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, and cast your mock presidential vote. You can also cast your web ballot online. Polls will close at 3 p.m. Friday. Results will be compiled in an Electoral College style, then announced to the campus starting Nov. 3. Remember to cast your official vote by Nov. 4.

Why not kick off the university’s Family Weekend with some music? The Performing Arts Department presents “An Evening of Jazz,” featuring jazz artist Dominique Eade. She will perform with the George Fox University Jazz Band and Faculty Jazz Trio at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, in Bauman Auditorium. Admission is Free.
The farewell reception for Darren Noble (Career Services), originally scheduled for Oct. 30, has been rescheduled. The event will now take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, in the Career Resource Center (Stevens 220). Darren has taken a new job with the state of Oregon.
Just a reminder about the two music events on campus this week. A Fall Chamber Concert is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, and features a few of the university’s many chamber ensembles, including the Clarinet Quartet, Early Music Ensemble, Handbell Ringers and Low Brass Ensemble. On Friday, Oct. 31, student recitals will be performed from 12:40 to 1:30 p.m. Both events take place in Bauman Auditorium.

The film is an exploration of why more young people still aren’t participating in our political process. It won Best Documentary at Sunscreen Film Festival.
We are creating a nation-wide event where it will screen on college campuses across the country one of the last four days before the election. It is already scheduled at more than 30 schools, colleges and Rock the Vote groups from Ohio to Hawaii. We are adding more every day. The university’s Young Democrats and Young Republicans are co-hosting a debate between the non-partisan candidates for county commissioner, Leslie Lewis and Kris Bledsoe, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, in VAC 117 in the Villa Academic Complex. The George Fox community is encouraged to attend to find out how these candidates will be impacting our way of life in Yamhill County. The university is seeking a full-time admissions counselor to do recruiting for the seminary from now until the end of June. This position may not continue into next fiscal year. It does include benefits. This job currently is open only to internal (employees) applicants.

Here are the results from Monday’s Women’s Bruin Brawl:
The freshmen got Bruin, Jr. off campus right after the flash by crossing Highway 99. Because this ocurred before the 6:00 p.m. start time, Bruin, Jr. was returned to campus for the women to have the chance to brawl. After almost an hour and a half of brawling the ferocious freshmen women got Bruin, Jr. off campus once again by crossing Meridian.
