The application deadline for regular applicants is Feb. 1 but for those of you wishing to add either the Reading or ESOL specialty endorsements, the deadline is Dec. 15.

The George Fox Dance Performance class presents, “So we think we can dance”. Come join us for 30 minutes of entertainment and lots of good laughs. The show begins at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 10 in the Wheeler Sports Center gym. The students have worked hard in preparing for the show. So come relax, laugh, have fun and cheer them on.
The satellite copiers have a new cost center for paper and supplies. The old number was 21180 and has been changed to 00-630035. This change will not affect the departmental budgets. The only place that you will need this number is at Print Services when you are filling out a supply form for your local copy machine. All copier toner, staples, and paper and transparencies are still purchased through Print Services, using the 00-630035 cost center.

Undergraduate Admissions and Multicultural Services are seeking students to join a new Cultural Ambassador leadership initiative this spring semester. We are seeking student leaders who want to be a representative of the diversity of George Fox by actively sharing and valuing cultural differences within a Christ-centered university through education and outreach to both the George Fox and local community. A pilot program will be launched spring semester.

The Department of Performing Arts will present its Christmas concert, “O Holy Night!,” Friday through Sunday, Dec. 12-14. The concert features more than 175 musicians from five ensembles in the main-stage performance, and preconcert music featuring six of the university’s chamber ensembles.
Three presentations are scheduled:
Two on-campus performances in Bauman Auditorium
Friday, Dec. 12, 7:30 p.m. (preconcert music begins at 6:30 p.m.)
Saturday, Dec. 13, 7:30 p.m. (preconcert music begins at 6:30 p.m.)
Off-campus performance at Village Baptist Church in Beaverton
Sunday, Dec. 14, 2:30 p.m. (preconcert music begins at 2 p.m.)

Ticket information
All faculty, staff and students receive one free ticket that can be picked up at the box office in the University Store. Additional tickets may be purchased in person at the box office or by calling the office at ext. 3844. Tickets also are available at music.georgefox.edu. Tickets are $10 for adults; $8 for seniors and George Fox alumni; and $6 for students and children. The concert features reserve seating, so if you have a favorite seat, make sure you save it now.
The BlueZone invites all students, faculty, staff to wear your letterman’s jacket for a photo on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 3:30 p.m. at the Centennial Clocktower.
Tuesday is also Letterman Jacket Night at the men’s basketball game. Watch the Bruins take on Northwest Christian University at 7:30 p.m. in Wheeler Sports Center.
This is a Critical notice regarding the registration/billing software transition for spring semester 09. Please take a moment to read the information.
Impact:
Please encourage students to register as requested; this will greatly assist the Registrar’s and Billing offices to start springs semester in the new software.
The window for requesting room changes for the spring semester will be December 1st through December 12th.
Students who wish make room changes between the fall and spring semesters may pick up a room change request form from the Student Life Office beginning December 1st.
Students whose requests are approved will be able to move at the end of finals week.

Please take a few minutes to submit your November time sheet (support staff) or time-off report (administrators) to your supervisor right away. As always, please be sure it is complete, accurate and signed by both you and your supervisor before sending it to HR at Box 6108. If your supervisor is not available to sign it, please send a copy to HR and keep the original until it has been signed. These documents are available on the HR website.
Thanksgiving holidays note: No hours should be recorded for the Nov. 27 and 28 holidays on the staff time sheet unless an employee worked those days.
Student supervisors, please submit your students’ November time sheets to HR right away. Please be sure the student’s name is legible on each one and use the new cost center numbers. Also, don’t forget to sign the time sheet, and be sure the students do as well.
If the student is not available to sign it this week, please send it without the signature; HR will hold the check until the time sheet is signed. If a student delivers his or her own time sheet to HR, it must be in a sealed envelope, a Federal Work Study regulation.
Now is the time to apply for the Master of Arts in Teaching full time program! If you hope to become a school teacher and plan to attend graduate school full time, now is the time to submit your application for admission.
The application deadline for regular MAT students is February 1 and the deadline for MAT Plus (ESOL or Reading endorsement) students is December 15.

The university’s engineering department will present its fifth annual “Wobble-Off” from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, in the Ron Gregory (EHS) Atrium.
Come and enjoy this demonstration of freshman engineering students’ first project – an exciting variety of oscillating steam/air-operated engines. The event highlights the students’ first-year studies in engineering design, solid modeling, and machining — and showcases the creative and impressive results of their design-build projects.
The students’ engines will compete in a variety of categories, including maximum speed, minimum vibration, maximum coast, cost efficiency and creativity/craftsmanship.

Wanted: Someone who would be interested in earning $50 by taking our 12-year-old, sweet, mellow Golden Retriever to the LA area at Christmas break. She has arthritis, and we would like her to winter down there in the warm, dry climate with my son and daughter-in-law instead of having to endure another cold, wet Oregon winter. My son and his wife, who live in Glendora (near Azusa) could meet you at your destination in the LA area to pick her up. Other than requiring more breaks than humans (every 3 hours or so), she should not be any trouble. She loves road trips.Â
