Input from students, the nursing and math-science-engineering departments, and from the Salem and Redmond sites will be included when those visits are completed.
The Mission-Vision-Values Task Team met Friday and will propose statements to faculty and staff hopefully within two weeks.

Beginning on Saturday, Feb. 21, and ending just before spring break, the university will host Iryna Moyseyenko, a female professor of linguistics and English language from Ukraine. A host home is needed for Iryna, who is the dean of Kyiv National Linguistic University’s English Department. She is single and 46 years old.
Her visit is being arranged by the Marshall Christian Foundation, the group that arranged for three professors to visit last year. If you or someone you know could provide room and some meals for Iryna, please contact Lon Fendall in the Center for Global Studies. There will be a small stipend to help with costs.
Multicultural Services and Bon Appetit remind you that Monday, Jan. 26, marks the Chinese New Year. This is an important celebration for many Asians, much like Jan. 1 is for the Western world. The celebration begins on New Year’s Eve and includes many traditional festivals.
To celebrate, Bon Appetit’s Monday dinner menu will feature Chinese cooking. Dinner is $7.75 if you are not on the meal plan.
Portraits of Courage: African Americans You Wish You Had Known is a 65 minute play that discusses African Americans who have been influential to the development of America, but typically fly under the radar of history lessons. These six people have all played a pivotal role in American culture and history and this show gives the audience the ability to learn and appreciate them in an engaging and entertaining light.
A discussion will follow the show.
Tickets go on sale Monday, January 26 and may be purchase in person at the GFU bookstore box office or by calling ext. 3844. All GFU students may receive one free ticket by reserving a seat through the GFU Bookstore. The play features reserved seating starting at 6:30 p.m. Outside community members are invited.

The Multicultural Club, Residence Life and Multicultural Services are sponsoring presentation of the play “Portraits of Courage: African Americans You Wish You Had Known” from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, in Bauman Auditorium. Faculty members, please encourage your students to attend this engaging and educational play. It is being presented as part of February’s Black History Month celebration.
Ticket sales start Monday, Jan 26. Students and employees each receive one complimentary ticket through the University Store. Outside community members are invited to purchase tickets at a rate of $8 for adults, $6 for seniors/alumni, and $5 for students with ID. The Multicultural Club and Multicultural Services are hosting Rwandan Enric Sifa for a Music & Munchies event from 9 to 11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, in Klages Dining Room. Cost is free for all GFU students.
Sifa was orphaned by the tragic events of the 1994 genocide and its devastating impact to his country. At age 9 he began to live on the streets. At 14, through music, Enric committed his life to God. Today at the age of 21, Enric has composed more than 60 songs in both his Kinyarwanda language and English. He has appeared on Rwandan TV and radio, performed for government dignitaries, and toured three times in the United States with the music group Hindurwa. Enric released his first solo CD in December 2007.
