The university’s Center for Global Studies and Center for Peace and Justice are hosting a panel Tuesday, Nov. 2, related to the panelists’ participation at the Lausanne Movement’s Third Congress on World Evangelization in Cape Town, South Africa, in October. Chapel credit is available for those students who attend.
Panel members include President Robin Baker, Sarita Gallagher (Religious Studies) and the university’s missional-practitioner-in-residence, David Chronic.

The English Department invites you to a reading by poet, novelist, and essayist Paul Willis at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, in Hoover 105.
Paul has served on the faculty at Westmont College for over 20 years. Â During that time he has demonstrated a creative output nothing short of remarkable: his work ranges from fantasy novels on the lists of major New York publishers, to poetry volumes offered by literary and university presses. Â His poems and essays have also appeared in the most distinguished annual anthologies, including Best Spiritual Writing and Best American Poetry.

Plant Services will no longer deliver Christmas trees across campus. If campus departments would like trees, they need to purchase, install and decorate their own.
Offices need to file a permit with Plant Services if they use a live tree and will be expected to cooperate with Plant Services on the removal of the live trees prior to the holiday time-off. Tree decoration kits from the university’s prop house can be borrowed from and returned to the Office of University Relations (contact Evangeline Pattison ext. 2121). Permits will be available to download from the Plant Services website by Nov. 15, and must be submitted by Nov. 30.
This is a reminder that the Bruin Bookstore and textbook annex will be closed all day this Wednesday, Nov. 3, for a transitional inventory. The Box Office will continue to do ticket sales right outside the bookstore between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The George Fox University Auxiliary will host its annual holiday bazaar and silent auction Friday and Saturday, Nov. 5-6, on campus. The bazaar will feature 20 artisans selling jewelry, art, crafts, plants and food. A silent auction is also planned.
The event is scheduled in the Ron Gregory Atrium in Wood-Mar Hall on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

The Health & Counseling Center has FREE Gardasil vaccine available for women between the ages of 18 and 26. This vaccine was released in 2006 to prevent cervical cancer. Gardasil usually costs $145 per dose and is given as three doses over six months.

Multicultural Student programs will be providing an airport shuttle to Portland International Airport for Thanksgiving break. This is a first-come, first-served sign-up process and you can sign up in the Office of Student Life (third floor of Steven’s Center) until Wednesday, Nov. 17. It will cost $20 each way ($40 total if you choose drop-off and pick-up), which is significantly cheaper than getting service from other Portland Metro shuttles and taxis. Be advised that payment is due at the time of sign-up.
There will be three shuttles on Wednesday, Nov. 24, that will leave from the Stevens Center parking lot and drop you off outside the airport at your flight carrier’s station. There will be three shuttles on Sunday, Nov. 28, that will pick up students at the airport.

I have recently lost a very special cotton-woven winter hat that I received from my uncle when he climbed Mt. Everest in Nepal. It is mainly gray with a white/blackish wave pattern in the middle and soft blue material on the inside. It has woven tails on the sides covering the ears and one on top as well. If any of you have seen or happen to have it, please return it to its rightful owner, as it is very dear and special to me.
